Tomorrow’s learning environment will most certainly look different than it does today. And it should.

The type of education students needed 50 years ago—or even when you were in school—has radically altered. Our students, to live up to their fullest potential and to achieve in tomorrow’s global marketplace, must master a set of skills that sets them apart. These skills include collaboration, creativity, cultural competency, innovative design thinking, technological mastery, social and emotional intelligence, and information literacy. And these are just the skills we are sure about now.

Our mission is to help student go out in the world and succeed as independent thinkers and engaged citizens, no matter what that future world looks like.

For this reason, Pike is, and must always be, on the leading edge of education. This dedication is at the heart of Pike. It is Our Shared Tomorrow.

Our Shared Tomorrow is a $7.55 million fundraising effort that will ensure our teachers remain national leaders in education, that our classrooms are full of students who are eager to reach their fullest potential, and that the school keeps moving forward, building on our remarkable success.

Over the past decade, thanks to many generous families, friends, and alumni like you, we’ve made great improvements to our facilities, including a new arts wing, community room, gallery space, theater, and welcoming building facade. Now the time has come to focus the efforts of our exceptional community on supporting our teachers, our students, and our immediate future.

Simply put, Our Shared Tomorrow represents a down payment on a bold vision for the future— a future that starts today, now, for every child at Pike. We will only succeed with the support of every member of our amazing community. We will only succeed with you!

Teaching and learning evolve rapidly.

Technology, new science, a shifting economy and labor market, globalization—all of these factors influence how and what we teach, and what our students learn. Pike teachers must be equipped to anticipate these changes, sift through the trends, and figure what will best help our students succeed in tomorrow’s world.

A gift to the Teachers as Innovators Fund is not only an investment in today’s teachers, it is an essential tool for retaining the outstanding educators we have and for attracting the best new ones. It is also an investment in your child’s education. The outcome of this investment in teachers is not just good for the school; it will also yield new projects and initiatives that will greatly benefit all students.

Pike teachers are innovators. They have the freedom to explore fresh ideas and collaborate with their colleagues. National thought-leaders in education, Pike teachers are energized and empowered. They are motivated to keep up with best practices, to learn to use the latest tools, to adopt new competencies and mindsets, and to apply leading-edge research. Our teachers are always eager to share with other educators, present at conferences, and build Pike’s brand as the home of innovative education. This effort expands your child’s opportunities by growing the national stature of a Pike education.

But this level of teacher excellence is only achieved with your support, and a gift to the Teachers as Innovators Fund.

At Pike, everyone is encouraged to keep improving, to reach their personal best—even our teachers.

Regardless of academic specialty, our teachers each set and meet personal and professional goals every year. But professional development is just one priority your gift to the Teachers as Innovators Fund will support. We asked teachers to imagine what else they might do with the increased resources. We asked them to dream big and think as innovators. Where will we go with these initiatives? The sky’s the limit. Our Shared Tomorrow is the foundation. Here’s just a sample of their many aspirational ideas.

Introduce team-based STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) concepts in every class and grade.

Create more opportunities for global education, service learning, and student leadership.

Integrate sustainability, citizen science, and environmental projects and lessons into the curriculum.

Host more guest speakers, thought leaders and in-residence experts on emerging trends and research.

Develop programs that make full use of Pike’s 32 acres of outdoor space, including the nature trail, garden, greenhouse, and the adventure challenge course.

Increase focus on integrated design thinking, engineering, and robotics through our makerspace.

Provide comprehensive, school-wide approaches to student health, social and emotional well-being, and lifelong self-care.

Establish Pike as a hub and resource for inter-culturally sensitive teaching and learning.

The Pike Scholars Fund

Studies show that peer groups matter in the classroom. When bright, motivated students challenge each other, everyone wins. And when classmates have diverse skills, strengths, and experiences, the whole school benefits.

A Pike education focuses on the core skills of collaboration, creativity, innovation, leadership, and cultural competency–essential lessons that our children learn as much from fellow students as from teachers. And that’s at the heart of Pike’s success.

Our goal is to craft classrooms that maximize the potential of every child at Pike. When enrolling each class, we are intentionally selective. The ability to pay full tuition is never the only factor we consider.

The Pike Scholars Fund will allow us to select students for Pike according to a variety of criteria that directly impact classroom learning for all. As a result, we will continue to attract students who bring a range of gifts perfect for challenging peers and enriching a Pike education. In short, your gift to the Pike Scholars Fund will ensure that we can build the best possible classes every year—a win-win for everyone!

ANNUAL FUND The Pike School is about endless possibilities—and preparing students to be independent learners and responsible citizens.

The Pike Annual Fund helps bring those possibilities to life. A robust Annual Fund lets the school respond to immediate financial needs, and it also allows us to take advantage of exciting new learning and teaching opportunities as they arise. Special art programs, lab and makerspace equipment, field trips, and new classroom initiatives are just a few of the many ways Annual Fund dollars make possible the margin of excellence that defines a Pike education.

Annual Fund dollars are all about immediate impact.

They go to work here and now. While endowed funds are crucial for the long-term sustainability and

growth of the school, it takes time for endowed funds to accrue interest, and only then can we access the earnings. By including the Annual Fund as an essential pillar of the campaign, we can ensure that your gift benefits students and teachers NOW and in the future.

1 Gift + 3 Priorities = UNLIMITED Possibilities Endowment, annual giving, funds, spending rates–it can get complicated. We want it to be simple, with no need to make separate gifts to the Annual Fund and the endowment, or do any complicated arithmetic. Instead, we ask you to make a single gift to Pike that accomplishes more than ever.

These questions can guide you: How can I stretch to support Pike in this crucial initiative?

What if I were able to make my gift over a two-, three, or even five-year period? o I want to direct my giving to a specific priority D or to where Pike needs it most?
