area’s confessions

FROM THE EDITOR Bella Entertainment has become such a great joy for me to produce for the public. It’s amazing how far we have already come in just the first issue. Many great people have made it into what it is now and I would like to thank them all for contributing their work. My staff and I strive to bring you the up and coming events of the Northwest and give you an inside look into them. We want to showcase the beautiful and talented people of the Northwest so that you, your family, friends and co-workers can enjoy a bit of entertainment anywhere. Our plan is to become a printed publication, and to do that we need the help of you, our beautiful community of Spokane and the amazing Northwest. Once printed, our magazine will be distributed all around Spokane, Post Falls, Coeur D’Alene and surrounding areas, it will also be available online in digital form and can be printed from there as well. Really excited to see how you will fall in love with our publication. Our goal is to not only show off the Photographers of the Northwest but also our musicians, artists, designers, and talented entertainers. I want to thank each and every one of you who have picked up this publication to read. Hope that you all enjoy this as much as I have enjoyed putting this amazing publication together for everyone.

How did you end up on the GRAMMY Committee? “ I joined The Recording Academy and was accepted into the Producers/Engineers wing.”

What was the GRAMMY’s like for you? “It’s very difficult to put into words what it was like. It was very cool to be there among the biggest names in the industry. I am absolutely honored to be a voting member and hope to continue to get more exposure for our local artists here in Spokane through submitting their music to the GRAMMY’s. What you see on TV is only a quarter of what actually takes place at the GRAMMY’s. Prior to the telecast there is the premier ceremony where most of the GRAMMY’s are awarded. There are actually over 80 GRAMMY’s handed out each year for many different categories of music. “

What would you like to see happen for your business in 5 years? “Recently we started our music publishing department and we are looking to license music to film, TV, and videogames. Currently Perfechter Publishing has a licensing store with a large library of music already on our website which is cleared for sync licensing opportunities. We hope to build our connections by attending events like SXSW, NAMM, and industry networking events put on by The Recording Academy. “

These are three qualities that make up a perfect image and John nails it every time. His direction on set is a perfect blend of light hearted humor, gentle advice and a very clear description of what he wants that make an image great. Several of John’s two mentors both award winning photographers describe as a solid photographer director that directs and communicates with his subjects that gets great results. John for many years is known for his fine art photography and today he combines those fundamental techniques to create classic lines of the body resembling a piece of fine art. Combine these qualities with his edgy, sharp lighting, John develops a recipe for photography that anyone can appreciate and identify with, oftentimes finding a part of them in each of his photographs. Armed with intensity, passion and a contagious laughter, he commands control of his set and earns the respect and trust that his models as well as bends he collaborates with have come to love and enjoy energy every shoot. John has been published in both national and international magazine, but what really drive John is his creativity to create amazing shoots and to builds upon something that make his work unique and clean.

M

y passion for makeup started when I was young when my mother would let me rummage through her makeup bags. She would take the time to explain what each thing did and how to play with colors. By the time I was in junior high and high school I was experimenting

with every color and look you can think and then some of myself and my friends. Sad to say there was lots of neon, metallics and glitter that was used in those years! Oh the 90’s… I have kept with experimenting and trying new things with makeup throughout the years. In doing so I have branched out to SFX Makeup and just started doing body painting and airbrush. About a year ago at the suggestion of my friends and family, I decided to create my own business, TV’s Makeup. In less than a year I have worked on two music videos, 2 indie zombie movie shorts and 1 horror movie short. I also got my first IMBD credit in November of 2014! With the continued support of the my family and friends I plan to continue on my path of world domination through makeup! Which is why I say everyone deserves to be beautiful, or a zombie. Because zombies are cool!

BERAHMAND Written By: Sean Micheal

Portland Oregon Fall 2013, began the birth of “Empress”, an album. What would follow, would be an artist’s biggest birth to date. Berahmand sets aside expectations, and strips himself as a person. This would lead him to a full length album that he would engineer, self-produce, perform, and recorded entirely in his basement studio. Fitted with an old school recording set up for his signature classic sound and vibe, what would come out of his sessions would suggest an era of new wave pop rock that welcomed an early Prince, David Bowie, Eurythmics, and even Blondie. It would pay tribute to the true rock and roll style of The Rolling Stones or an early R&B influenced Led Zeppelin. His forever yearning voice of classic soul would drive us straight into territory we haven’t heard since Annie Lennox was delivering her album collection through huge vocals on the 80’s top 40 charts . Berahmand would cleverly mix it up with an old 70’s drum set, dated beat machines, analog synths, organs, vintage amps and guitars. He would keep all computers out of the tracking room and record an honest work with well thought out production and timeless hooks worthy of a classic pop album! “It’s funny but about 6 months before I started this album I was sitting in therapy thinking to myself , well here I am, all roads have led to this. I was a wreck and I was destructive in many ways. I had been playing music and been in bands since I was a kid. In 2009 I just shut it all down and pursued traveling and an adventurous life with my wife. On one hand I was the happiest newlywed alive, on the other, I was holding onto a mess of a childhood and trying to understand what exactly I was supposed to do with it. I was lonely and being unraveled, and it wasn’t helping that I left my one true passion and friend behind, music. Oh the music, she has led my journey in everything I’ve done. From my earliest memories, I only hear songs. I love melody and the way it provokes emotion. I feel it in all ways possible, and as a result, have always been on high vibrations in life. I find something in everything and everything in anything. I love relationships with people and inspiring feelings to be extremely present in my life. I put it in everything I do. I lead with my beliefs in this existence and I follow and I listen to them every day. I am not swayed much beyond that place. So when I realized this, I had to embrace and except that this is probably just going to be me, forever! That’s when I gave up and quit destroying myself. As a result, I was welcomed back to the music with an attitude that I belong doing simply what I do best. This album is all about honesty for me. It’s about being what you are already. It about being authentic, standing with purpose, and brave enough to share it with a crumbling world. Currently supporting his freshman self produced/performed album “Empress” on Soulfullchild Records , the full online release was on October 1st 2014. The Video for “Through to my heart” was released in late November. Currently he will be headlining the anticipated album release on March 28th at the Doug Fir lounge in Portland Oregon with a full line up in support of the album. Members include some of Portland’s finest as well as members from London and Australia’s pop rock scene.

rmed and ready to rock the party, Chilled Clarity, are redefining the modern grunge rock movement with stage presence and song-writing chops that are well beyond their years. In less than a year’s time, the band has managed to amass a merchandise hungry fan-base that has Chilled Clarity sending albums and t-shirts to all corners of the globe. “It’s been a pretty great run so far” states vocalist, Bronsen Rasmussen. “Our first album was really well received. Through the power of social media, we got the word out really quickly and people as far away as the United Kingdom started ordering our disc online!”

Dominating a city’s local music scene can be a task in itself, but developing international acclaim in such a short period of time is an indication of the band’s mass appeal. Chilled Clarity caught the attention of Nettwerk Records professional, Phil Lehmann who took the band under his wing for their first single “Shoulda Sold Out” and it was soon after that they started shipping units out to the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Australia. Later on Phil Lehmann became the bands Manager Phil Lehmann wasn’t the only one to take notice of Chilled Clarity’s impact on the local scene, as other media outlets soon weighed in as well. Vivian Pencz of the Georgia Straight compared front man Bronsen Rasmussen’s image to that of Kurt Cobain. 99.3 The Fox’s Scott Allan commented on the bands raw sound and energy after seeing them live at Library Square in Vancouver . POETRY BY TRAVIS NAUGHT Model Behavior To consider feelings, one needs more information than a smile or sultry look. Too many women cover discomfort in strings and see through material, much to the enjoyment of consumers who don’t care that beneath objective perfection lies a personality. I’ve known the type, both, and hope to move away rom always self-deprecating, other-exalting actions. Let it sink in: we are all worthy of being showcased in the pages of magazines. We’ve all got flawless skin, impressive and shapely traits, an abundance of love, and any number of others who accept us as we are.
