he growing season is starting at the Brunelli winery, celebrating this year the 80th anniversary from the year of foundation in 1936. Since the beginning of the XVII century, the Brunelli family has been living in the beautiful Corte Cariano, a courtyard made of bright local flat stones, in the heart of the Valpolicella wine region, producing mainly crops and wine. In 1936 Angelo Brunelli was one of the first producers to start focusing exclusively on grape and wine and talking clearly about wine quality and Valpolicella identity. After Angelo, the reins go to his son Giuseppe, another wine-maker of unique sensibility, devoted to emphasise the local grapes. Today the winery is in the hands of Luigi Brunelli which, with his wife Luciana and the son Alberto (fourth generation), furthermore developed the quality of the wines with two top Amarone single-vineyards, Campo Inferi and
Campo del Titari, and revolutionised the idea of hospitality, proud of being part of the Valpolicella area. A romantic “Bed & Wine” was opened in 2005 and a tastefully restored wine shop was recently created in the most ancient part of the cellar (Via Cariano 10, 37029 San Pietro in Cariano - Opening hours: Monday- Saturday 9-19; Sunday 9-12.30).
