MyhusbandOrbeandIjoinedCarmel in1962.I’vebeenamembernowfor63 years.Ihavethreechildren Johnny, Tammy and Rodney and they are all membersofCarmelaswell Iamblessed with eight grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren
WhatmotivatedyoutojoinCarmel?
WiththearrivalofRodney,weoutgrew ourhouseinBeverlyWoodsandwent searching for a neighborhood near a golf course since Orbe and I both enjoyed playing Carmel was a perfect fitforus.Webuiltourhomein1969in MontibelloontheNorthCourse,hole #4now-wherecowsgrazedwherethe greenislocated.
What has changed the most about Carmelsinceyoujoined?
Oh my goodness, from Carmel’s humbling beginnings where the baby pool was enclosed with a chain length fence to a resort baby pool complete with slide and water fountains, from one golf course to the addition of the Southandthegorgeousrenovationsin ourbeautifulclubhouse

What does a normal weekend look likeforyou?
Over the weekends I treasure my time spentwithfamily Theymayallcometo the house or I am out watching them play ballgames, golf tournaments, and dancerecitals.

My go to is the roasted cauliflower, build your own salad, and the frozen lemonade Whatisonetipthatyouwouldgive tonewmembersjoiningCarmel? Takeadvantageofalltheopportunities Carmel has to offer. Carmel has and will always be my home away from home.For55years,I’velookedoutmy kitchen window every morning and enjoyed the view of the fairways, workers setting up the course and all the deer running up and down the fairways What a spectacular way to startaday!!

Join us for our favorite event of the year— Tennis Ball! This year will be College Gameday inspired so put on your favorite school/team colors and grab your best doubles partner for a fun weekend! This event is designed for all levels to enjoy and is a great way to celebrate another awesome year on the courts at Carmel. All players are welcome to bring their spouse to the Thursday night kickoff party where we will reveal the groupings for Friday. The weekend will be filled with men and women’s doubles group play followed by flight play on Saturday to determine who will make the shootout in the afternoon!

fees from 49 new members Still short of funds, the board secureda$750,000loanfromtheLifeInsuranceCompanyof Virginia, whose executives admitted golf clubs weren’t their usual investment but Carmel’s strong membership and promisingfuturemadeitfeelright
ArchitectCharlesConnellydesignedastructuremeanttoserve “futuregenerations,notjustthecurrentmembership.”Though ill during construction, Connelly admired the nearly finished buildingwithpride.LaxtonConstructioncarriedouthisvision, while designer Reginald Styers completed the interiors When askedwhytheballroomseemedsomuted,hefamouslyreplied: “Youdonotprovidecolorintheballroom Theladiesdothat” And indeed, the ladies did just that when the new clubhouse officially opened on November 3, 1967 With vibrant gowns filling the ballroom and excitement buzzing through the halls, memberscelebratedafacilitythatwaseverythingtheyhadhoped for agrandClubhousetheycouldtrulygrowinto.
