CLAIM YOUR $7,500 SOLAR TAX CREDIT If your home or business has an unshaded roof, now is the time to install solar panels and claim a $7,500 credit on your 2023 tax filings. The 2022 U.S. Inflation Reduction Act is an opportunity for Capital Medical Society members that should not be missed! The electricity you save likely will pay for the panels in eight years and give you free power for another twenty. Photovoltaic energy for your home or business means saving money, cleaner air, and a healthier community. This month, the Society’s My Green Doctor explains in a three-minute blog everything you need to know to get started: https://mygreendoctor.org/claim-your-7500solar-tax-credit/. My Green Doctor is a free money-saving membership benefit from the Capital Medical Society. Members use the “Meeting-by-Meeting Guide” to learn how to
adopt environmental sustainability, save resources, address the health threats of climate change, and help create healthier communities. The program adds just five minutes to each regular office staff meeting or weekly office “huddle”, making small changes at each meeting that over time really add up. Everyone in your practice can register as Partner Society members at www.MyGreenDoctor.org or at www. MyGreenDoctor.es (si, en Espanol). Use the discount code MGDCMS to get full free access to My Green Doctor, save $60 instantly, and save $1000s in the first year. FSUCOM-TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL CAMPUS FOOD PANTRY
DR. JIMMY MOSS’ AUTOBIOGRAPHY SALES SUPPORT THE FSUCOM-TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL CAMPUS FOOD PANTRY On medical student Jimmy Moss’ first day at the FSU College of Medicine in 2006, Dr. Alma Littles, then the Associate Dean of Medical Affairs and now Interim Dean of the college, said the words that would level his playing field in medical school. “This is not just a career choice you have chosen…this is a calling. Your childhood may have been bad or difficult, but it’s over. Now starts the next chapter of your book.” A Doctored Life is an episodic journey through Dr. Jimmy Moss’ life, filled with winding roads that stopped at homeless shelters and others that eventually landed him at the doors of some of the work’s elite medical training institutions. Dr. Moss gives us a firsthand glimpse into the life he doctored together from homeless…to Harvard.
Dr. Moss’ own struggle through homelessness and food insecurity has prompted him to offer his autobiography through the Capital Medical Society Foundation to benefit the FSU College of Medicine’s Food Pantry at its Tallahassee Regional Campus where he once was a medical student. After learning that current students are struggling with food insecurity, he jumped at the opportunity to pay it forward for the next generation of physicians at his alma mater. Books sell for $20.00 and all proceeds go to the CMS Foundation for this purpose. Please contact the Capital Medical Society at 850-877-9018 or rcarlin@capmed.org to order your book or drop by the office at 1204 Miccosukee Road with your check payable to CMSF.
Dr. Jimmy Moss is a triple board certified (Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Critical Care) physician who trained at Mayo Clinic and Harvard Medical School (Mass General Hospital). A seasoned public speaker who has shared his story across the county, this is his first attempt in the literary world and, thankfully, not his last.

THANK YOU FROM 2023 CMSF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
Dear Scholarship Donors, I want to give you my deepest appreciation for your generosity in contributing to my medical education. Your gift through the Capital Medical Society Foundation will be instrumental in supporting me during medical school. Not only will this scholarship allow me more time to focus on constructive extracurricular endeavors, but it has also contributed to a boost in my well-being with decreased stress regarding finances. I am truly honored to be associated with the Capital Medical Society, an organization that has been at the forefront of promoting excellence in healthcare, education, and community service. Your commitment to advancing medical education and healthcare in our community inspires me, and I am excited about the opportunity to contribute positively to our field in the future. As a medical student, I am dedicated to pursuing my education with diligence and passion. Rest assured that I will utilize this scholarship to its fullest extent to excel in my studies and further my involvement in initiatives that align with the values and mission of your esteemed organization. As of last week, I have been selected to serve as the Interprofessional Liaison for the Chapman Community Health Program which provides health screenings, promotes preventative health education initiatives, and fosters community development at Maryland Oaks Crossing, a low-income housing community in Tallahassee. Additionally, I have been volunteering at the Kearney Center with FSU HOME (Homeless Outreach Medicine and Education) Street Medicine to provide medical services to our unsheltered neighbors. I have also applied to run for an Executive Board position in this organization as well. Overall, I am inspired by your generosity, and I hope to extend the same help I received to others. Additionally, I would like to extend my appreciation to the scholarship selection committee for their time and effort in reviewing applications and speaking with me during the interview. Once again, thank you for this incredible opportunity and for believing in my potential. I am truly honored to be associated with the Capital Medical Society. I look forward to staying connected with the Capital Medical Society and hope to contribute to its mission. Ultimately, words cannot express how grateful I am to be receiving this scholarship. Thank you for your selflessness in extending your help to myself and others. Sincerely, Owen Moore
