Zachary past and present descended upon the Copper Mill Golf Course for the second annual Zachary Broadcasting Foundation scramble tournament
“Lodge at Lane” team of Bobby Babin, Dave Rushing, Terry Overland and Brett McClure braved the sun and wind to pull out the win in the 10-team field. Organizer Thomas Scott thanked the Zachary Community folks who participated and specifically called out Jordan Charlet for cooking a meal for all participants and organizers.
Other Zachary sports notables
Former Bronco Nyla Doiron was named the Co-OVC Player of the Week for her performance for the Morehead State University Eagles. She batted 429 with three doubles, two runs and eight RBIs. Add a walk, one hit by pitch and three sacrifice flies and a 1.000 fielding percentage and it has the making for a wonderful series
against the Western Illinois Leathernecks. I had to mention the opponent for a couple of reasons. My dad coached football at Western Illinois and that is where I was born — and I challenge Zachary Sports readers to find another mascot named “Leatherneck” in any sport. Back to Doiron, she had a team seasonhigh seven RBIs in the second game of the series and had the game-winning RBI in the third game.
