CAPE COD SEA CAMPS
Monomoy Day Camp
Best Summer Ever | Brewster, Massachusetts
Dear Friends,
Welcome to Cape Cod Sea Camps! “... between meeting new friends and trying new activities, this has been my best summer ever!” - Molly age 12
Each season we build an extraordinary summer community on the shores of Cape Cod Bay. As soon as your camper arrives, the fun and adventure begins, promising magical moments and lifelong memories. As you make this very important decision about a summer experience for your child, we hope you will consider the advantages of a traditional camp program where safety is a hallmark of our organization, fun is around every corner, and educational values are taught each day. While having fun and learning with an experienced mature group of staff in a variety of actvities, the opportunity to gain life skills and build character is incomparable. Making a friend, sharing a sunset walk on the beach, helping with chores, joining a team, leading a song or comforting a fellow camper are constructive principles reinforced daily. For nearly a century, my family has welcomed generations of campers, and is committed to providing the “Best Summer Ever” to each member of our distinct community. We look forward to having you join us and becoming a member of our CCSC family. “…..even when subtle, each moment spent at CCSC was meaningful and will not be forgotten.” - Matt age 15

THE DIRECTORS AND COUNSELORS
Our professional staff is what makes CCSC the very best camp experience. Twenty senior staff comprised of a Director, Assistant Directors, Program Specialists, Department Heads, and Head Counselors provide leadership and guidance to all the counselors and campers. This Monomoy Day Camp team is multi-generational. Counselors are college students and professional teachers whose average age is around 24 years. Approximately 50% of our staff return from year to year, providing consistent veteran leadership. Counselors are screened and hired based on their ability to serve as positive role models as well as for their activity and teaching skills. A thorough staff orientation week focuses on the health and safety of the children, counseling and teaching skills, the CCSC philosophy, and building community. All staff members undergo official, state-mandated background checks prior to beginning work. Our ratio of campers to counselors is approximately 5:1.

OUR CAMPERS
Each morning the campers are welcomed into a safety-oriented and fun-filled learning environment. The fun is not limited to the myriad of activities campers choose -it extends to the many friendships they make with other kids from across the country and around the world. In recent years, campers have joined us from England, Spain, South Africa, Singapore, Mexico, Hong Kong and France, to name a few. Camp is a multi-generational, multi-cultural experience with an extended community ranging in age from 4-75 plus. The campers are separated into co-ed units according to age and grade with an even mix of boys and girls.

THE PROGRAM
e c n e d fi con SCHEDULE
At Monomoy Day Camp, how kids feel is just as important as what they do. The camp motto is “Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way.”
The fun and exploration lasts from the time the buses arrive to the time they pull away at the end of each day. Here at the Monomoy Day Camp a camper can throw a pot, serve an ace, or learn to swim in the morning, eat lunch, and then shoot a bow and arrow or raise a sail in the afternoon. Our daily schedule consists of four periods ( 2 camper-chosen activities and 2 assigned activities) a day, which allows campers to try many new activities and pursue new interests. The self-confidence campers gain by tackling new activities is an important outcome of the Monomoy Day Camp experience.

DAYS-A-WAY
e c n e d n e p e d in A weekly 5-day overnight experience offered in conjunction with our Monomoy Day Camp. Campers live in cabins in the day camp area and participate with the day camp units during the day. After day camp hours, the Days A-Way campers enjoy a snack time and special elective activities. Some evening activities include special events or group games, along with campfires, s’mores, and songs. Campers stay at camp Monday through Thursday nights and are home for the weekend.
TEEN LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Teen Leadership Program is a specialized four-year program providing young adults with the skills and knowledge necessary to become well-qualified camp counselors, leaders, and role models. Through a variety of counseling experiences, graduates of this program emerge with the training necessary to work at MDC and at camps throughout the country. Responsibilities and privileges are carefully balanced to ensure both challenges and rewards. Activity skills, teaching hours, counseling experience, behavioral and attitude requirements, and service projects help our teen leaders or Teen Leaders (LTs) to meet standards for counselors set by the American Camp Association. We believe strongly that this goal-oriented program helps young people to establish leadership skills, values, and self-discipline necessary for success later in life.

THE ACTIVITIES
We are a traditional summer camp offering many land and water activities. Campers choose activities on a weekly and daily basis, from approximately 25 offerings. Whether it is art or sailing, sports, swimming, or archery that piques a camper’s interest, they’ll have an opportunity to try it all here. We seek to provide children the type of educational experiences that will be remembered as much for their enjoyment as for their intrinsic learning value. Along with teaching activity skills, we also strive to embed our community’s core values into every camp experience. Campers will leave each day feeling great about themselves, what they accomplished, and will be excited to return for yet another action-packed day at the Monomoy Day Camp.
