THANK YOU FOR JOINING US TONIGHT! Each year, we invite the best singers, dancers and musicians we can find from high schools across Cape Cod to perform in a benefit concert. We have two large dance troupes, Dance Designs and the Beth Walsh Dancers…classical musicians from the Cape Cod Conservatory program (their whole orchestra)… plus ballet, tap and modern dancers…solo vocalists covering from pop to opera…the best student rock and jazz bands we can find, plus musicians from violin to bag-pipes, depending on what’s best each year. Cape Cod Community College has been our host for the past 8 years. Tilden is the perfect venue with a sound and light crew that showcases the performers at their best. When the artists are not performing, they act as stage hands for one another. Schools may compete in sports, but SHELTER is a collaboration born of an awareness that we have people in trouble: veterans, homeless, and victims of domestic violence who need protection and assistance. Our first concert fed the Noah Shelter for 4 months. Over the years, we have assisted the Veterans’ Outreach Center in Hyannis, Homeless not Hopeless Shelters and more. We’ve worked with the Duffy Health Center and totally funded 3 Stand Down programs, bringing up to 30 agencies together to provide free services to Cape Veterans.

SHELTER FROM THE STORM ABOUT US The Shelter from the Storm concerts are put on by a team of students from Cape Cod Academy. They are members of our People-toPeople International Chapter and members of the Barnstable County Human Rights Academy. WHO ARE WE HELPING THIS YEAR? Our student committees have responded to information provided by State Senator Dan Wolf and from our Cape Cod Council of Churches. Last year we spread our revenues between a number of worthy organizations (see below). This year our students have voted to devote 100% of our efforts to rebuilding the SAFE HARBOR shelter for battered women and children. Funding this vital refuge has always been difficult and victimized women and children have had to live in seriously substandard conditions. If we can raise at least as much as we did last year (and hopefully improve on it) we’ll be able to refurbish 10 living units—bringing the facility to a condition where people who have already suffered so much can re-group with at least some dignity and grace. Where our donations went last year: •
