Congratulations Spotlight Stark County Class of 2011 Leadership Stark County is proud to announce that the following young professionals have been selected to participate in the 2011 class of Spotlight Stark County. The Spotlight Stark County program is a six-week course designed to inform, inspire and involve young professionals in Stark County.

The course began with Discovering and Applying your Strengths using the StrengthsFinder assessment (book by Tom Rath). Participants will be introduced to local leaders of business and non-profit organizations, engage with other young professionals, and get involved in a community service project. Site visits to the Canton YWCA and the Refuge of Hope provided background for the community service projects. They will also have the opportunity to meet with non-profit directors and boards with the expectation of serving as a provisional board member.

In 2010-2011, 19 non-profits benefited with the addition of an enthusiastic, insightful younger individual to their board. These individuals attend the Role of the Board Seminar in preparation for their board involvement.

12th Class: Dr. Alise Bartley, founder and president of The Relationship Center of Northeast Ohio, received a distinguished alumni award from The University of Akron.

14th Class: Joe French, director of the Early Childhood Education Alliance, Inc., was given the first ever DeHoff Emerging Philanthropist award by the United Way of Greater Stark County.

15th Class: Karen Brenneman, managing partner at Hall, Kistler & Co. was elected 2011-2012 president of Canton Rotary.

Because he found it to be such “an outstanding program,” Mike Lynch, Nimishillen Township Trustee made a recommendation, passed by the trustees, that the township pay for any trustees who wished to attend the Government Leadership Academy.
