BE YOND THE BELL

CANNON SCHOOL is proud to offer Beyond the Bell (BTB) after-school enrichment programs for students in Junior Kindergarten–Grade 8, as well as private music lessons for students in Kindergarten–Grade 8.

Q: When and how can I sign up for Beyond the Bell classes?

A: All registrations should be completed through Veracross Family Portal. Class fees are due at the time of registration.

Q: What if I want to cancel or change a class after the session begins?

A: You may cancel within the first week of the session. After a student attends the second class, billing cannot be canceled and full payment is required. If you cancel after the first week, you will only be billed for the one class attended at the per-class rate.

Q: How do I pay?

A: Payment is required at registration. You may pay online by credit card, or submit cash, check, or money order to the office.

Q: How many students are accepted in each BTB class?

A: Each class has its own minimum and maximum enrollment. Classes that do not reach the minimum will be canceled (with no charges applied). Classes will close once they reach capacity, so early registration is highly recommended.

Q: What if a class is canceled?

A: If a class is canceled, we will do our best to make it up during a designated “make-up week” at the end of the 10-week session. Families will receive direct communication with details about the rescheduled class.

Music Lessons

Private music lessons are available for students K–8. Spaces are limited, so early sign-up is encouraged. Please complete the online registration form.

MONDAY

LEGO PLAYTIME ENGINEERS

Offered By: Danielle

JrK - 2 Monday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $25/class; $200 total

Calling all builders! Join us in a world of imagination and creation with LEGOs! Each week, your child will tackle exciting building challenges that promote problem-solving and critical thinking. From building towering skyscrapers to futuristic spaceships, each session promises a new adventure with LEGOs. Students will learn various building techniques, experiment with different LEGO accessories, and collaborate with peers to create new structures. Let’s build, create, and explore together!

YOGA STRONG

Offered By: Angela Hernandez

3rd - 7th Monday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $22/class; $176 total

Students will take part in both movement and stillness with the guidance of their certified yoga instructor. Together, we will learn about the importance of breath and have fun while exploring different yoga postures. In addition, we will practice techniques to help regulate emotions and support us when we experience stress or anxiety. Students are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat, which can be left on campus starting the first day of class. Helping students find balance—on and off the mat!

SCIENCE SLEUTHS

3rd - 5th Monday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $22/class; $176 total

Are you curious about science? Do you enjoy a good mystery? Come join me as we investigate the world around us! This interactive, hands-on class will explore a variety of topics while stretching your observation and logic skills. Join me to stretch your observation and logic skills!

TUESDAY

BAKING WITH CHEF CRAIG

Offered By: Craig

1st - 3rd Tuesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $22/class; $198 total

This is a hands-on cooking class for beginners. Students will learn how to make some of their favorite treats from scratch, such as chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, and more. At the end of each class, students will get to sample their creations. Along the way, they will learn basic cooking techniques from Chef Craig and begin finding their way around the kitchen. Whisk, mix, and bake your way to kitchen confidence!

SERIOUS SOFTBALL SKILLS (TRIPLE S)

4th - 6th Tuesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $20/class; $180 total

Join us for an exciting Beyond the Bell class designed to enhance your softball skills! Serious Softball Skills (Triple S) is perfect for students eager to improve their game while having fun. Under the expert guidance of Coach Megan Toteno and Coach Arianna Sherrill, you’ll learn essential techniques, practice drills, and strengthen teamwork. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, Triple S offers a supportive and engaging environment for all. Step up to the plate—let’s swing, learn, and grow together!

SOCCER SKILLS

JrK- 4th Wednesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $20/class; *$200 total

Give your child the perfect introduction to soccer with Soccer Skills—a fun, energetic class designed just for young players! Students will build fundamental soccer techniques in a playful, age-appropriate environment that encourages teamwork, confidence, and a love for the game.

Get ready to kick, play, and grow!

Please note: There was a misprint in the printed copies. The final cost for 10 sessions is $200.

BEGINNER STRINGS ORCHESTRA

Offered By: Anne Marie Samuel

1st - 8th Wednesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $30/class; $300 total

Have you ever wondered if you could play the violin? If so, this class is for you! Taught by Cannon’s Strings Orchestra Director, this beginner class will introduce students to basic note reading, posture, and how to hold, play, and tune a violin or cello. After one trimester, students are encouraged to continue their growth with a private lesson teacher, allowing them to advance at their own pace.

Join us for the joy of music-making! *Students will need to rent a violin, viola, or cello after the first class.

FLAG FOOTBALL

5th - 6th Wednesday 3:00-4:30 p.m. $22/class; $154 total

PLEASE NOTE DIFFERENT DATES: OCTOBER 1 – NOVEMBER 19 (NO CLASS OCTOBER 22)

Love flag football?! Join our after-school fall league—open to all 5th & 6th grade students, boys and girls! Over 7 weeks, students will take part in a combine, draft, season games, and finish with a championship tournament. Each team will compete in two games per week, and all skill levels are welcome—from beginner to pro! See you on the field! *Cleats are recommended but not required. All other equipment is provided.

COED LACROSSE SKILLS

Offered By: CANNON SCHOOL Lacrosse Coaches

1st - 4th Thursday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $20/class; $160 total

This class is taught by coaches and varsity players from Cannon’s boys’ and girls’ lacrosse programs. Participants will learn the fundamentals of catching, throwing, cradling, and shooting through a variety of drills and activities—all while focusing on teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment. Sticks and mouthguards are encouraged, but not required. Learn new skills, grow your game, and experience the excitement of lacrosse!

TAE KWON DO

Offered By: Concord Taekwondo

1st - 6th Thursday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $19/class;$152 total

Tae Kwon Do is a life-long practice of exercise and self-defense. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of Tae Kwon Do, including basic forms and sparring techniques. Students of all levels are welcome. Learn discipline, build confidence, and grow stronger with every class!

BASEBALL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING CAMP

Offered By: Casey Harrell

2nd - 6th Thursday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $22/class; $176 total

This class is offered by the Varsity Baseball coach, Casey Harrell. Students will learn fundamental development of baseball play along with hitting, fielding, catching, throwing, and baserunning development. All skill levels welcome!

CRAZY FUN CLAY MAKERS

JrK - K Tuesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $20/class; $180 total

Unlock your child’s creativity with the magic of clay! Building and sculpting with clay not only sparks imagination but also develops fine motor skills and provides sensory play all while having a super fun time! Each week, your child will explore a different clay, including polymer clay, air-dry clay, sand clay, and much more. Under the guidance of our experienced instructor, they’ll create amazing masterpieces like tiny critters, sea animals, beads, pendants, and other works of art all with clay.

Your child is sure to have an amazing time at Crazy Fun Crazy Jr. Clay Masters!

FRIDAY

CHESS 101 & 102

Offered By: Dominique Myers

1st - 8th Friday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $18/class; $144 total

Our chess curriculum serves a wide age range and welcomes all skill levels—from beginner to advanced. Classes are taught by a U.S. Chess Federation–rated and certified coach, with an emphasis on analytical thinking and problem-solving as tools for learning. Students will be grouped according to their experience and skill level. Think ahead, sharpen your strategy, and enjoy the game of chess!

CRAZY RUNNING

Offered By: Crazy Running Lake Norman

K - 3rd Friday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $20/class;$160 total

Crazy Running introduces younger students to running through fun, age-appropriate games and activities. Young runners will build lifelong skills while having fun with friends. Students will learn proper form and running techniques—it’s exercise combined with play! Run, laugh, and grow stronger with Crazy Running!

INTRO TO COUGAR SPORTS

Offered By: Kelli Waller & Allison Landino

1st - 4th Friday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $20/class; $160 total

Do you have a budding athlete who always seems to want to run, jump, and play? In this class, students will be introduced to a variety of sports, including kickball, soccer, Gaga ball, and more. They’ll learn the rules and fundamentals of each sport while enjoying plenty of friendly competitions each week. Learn new games, build skills, and have fun with friends!

FUTURE ATHLETE SPEED & STRENGTH TRAINING (F.A.S.S.T)

Offered By: Shawn Powell and Team Grades

7th - 8th

Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. $25/class; $425 total

In this course, offered by Cannon’s strength and conditioning coach, students will learn about nutrition and will improve their speed, strength, and quality movement patterns. Two days a week, we will use age appropriate strength training that focuses on strength, speed, and volume.

Students will also learn about the 7 R’s and be introduced to SHREDmill speed.

FUNDAMENTAL ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT - INTRO TO SPORTS PERFORMANCE

Offered By: Shawn Powell and Team

5th - 6th Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. $25/class; $425 total

In this course, students will work on improving their overall athleticism. Students will engage in court and field work that focuses on flexibility, movement, plyometrics, and speed. Students will also be introduced to the weight room where they will focus on bodyweight control, core stability, and much more.
