AsIapproachmy1-yearworkanniversiaryhereattheChamber,itshardtobelievehowquicklytime hasgoneby! It’sbeenawhirlwind! Ireallyhavetohandittoourstaff-manypeopledon’trealizethat bothRobin(ourMembershipCoordinator),andAudrey(ourOfficeManager)workpart-timeandon separatedaysoftheweek,withThursdaysbeentheonlydayweareallintheofficetogether!

Theyhavenotonlysupportedmethroughgettinguptospeedwithallthevariousgoingsonhereatthe Chamber,buttheyhandledmanythingsontheirownthroughtheupsanddownstheChamberhas experiencedoverthepastcoupleofyears. Therearealotofmovingpartstothisjob. Notonlyarewe carryingoutourmissiontosupportourmembers,butwearealsorunningabusinessaswell. Ireally appreciatethiersupportandthewonderfulsupportofourmemberswhohavejumpedintohelpmethis pastyeartoo! ThatincludesourwonderfulAmbassadorsandBoardofDirectorstoo!

Iwouldalsoliketogiveaspecial“shoutout”toChamberVIPMembersatDirectLinkand“LocalHeroes” MembersatKintechnologyforhelpingtosupportusthroughoutthemigrationtoournewandimproved platform Thatbeingsaid,weareexcitedtointroduceourNEWChamberMembershipManagement System-ChamberMate!

ThisnewplatformwasintroducedattheAnnualOregonStateChamberofCommerce’sConferencein October2023. ThisplatformreplacesourantequatedChamberMasterWordPress-basedplatformthat hasbeenaroundforabout20years,andwasinstitutedhereattheCanbyChamberin2015.

Sofarthisnewplatformisintuitiveandeasytouseforusandwewouldappreciateanyfeedbackabout thenewsystemfromourmembersaswell! Weanticipateflippingtheswitchbytheendofthisweek!

We are also looking forward to next month’s Historic Preservation Month as we have been working to partner with the CanbyHistoricalSociety relative to history tourism. Last August, Dr.CarolPalmer was invitedtojoinourTourismCommittee. InSeptember,wecreatedaposterandhelpedpromoteanevent celebrating Mary Hanlon’s renovation of Historic Canby City Hall, which was recognized by Restore OregonlastyearwithaDeMuroAward. ThisyearweinvitedDr.PalmertospeakatourMayluncheonin hopes of inspiring downtown business owners about Canby’s history and to garner support for the proposedDowntownHistoricDistrictcurrentlyunderreviewbytheCityofCanby We’llseeyouthere!

We had a great turnout for this year’s highly anticipated “Shred-It-Day” sponsored by Kahut Waste Services and NW Employment Solutions!

A huge thank you those who came out to shred with us, including Ambassador Sandra Towes (Canby Smiles), Board Members Diane Harbeck and Alex Redmond, and to Canby Fire District who came out to help us with set up and traffic flow management. Thanks also to Clackamas County Event Center for providing chairs, tables and the venue.

Annual “Best of Canby” Awards FAQ.

How are the categories selected?

There must be at least three Chamber Member businesses in a category for the category to be considered.

How are members nominated?

If they are under a category for consideration, they must be a member in good standing with the Canby Area Chamber of Commerce.

Their dues must be paid in full by April 30th, 2024 to be considered Some write-ins are allowed

How do I vote?

A survey is sent out to the nominees, the entire membership, and shared on social media and posters.

Voting starts on May 1st at noon.

Voting closes on May 15th at noon. Nominees are highly encouraged to share their nominee status with family, friends, neighbors and customers. Each person can vote only once per category (we check IP addresses).

Votes will be tallied and those nominees with the most votes in each category will win Winners will be notified and invited to our June 4th Best of Canby Awards Luncheon!

We never charge winners for awards or use of the Best of Canby Winner logo!
