OneofthegreatestgiftsIreceiveinthisjobisseeingbusinessesflourshasaresultoftheirhardworkand determinationtokeepgoing,evenwhentimesgettoughWehaveseveralbusinessesthathavebeen throughalltheupsanddownsformorethan75years-andtheyarestillheremakingithappen!
Ashistoryhasprovenoverandoveragain,thetimefollowingtheendofamajorwarormilitary conflictwillbeaperiodofadjustmenttoapeacetimeeconomywhichgenerallyleadstosome amountofeconomicinstability.
ConcernsaboutinflationcomeintoplayandtheFederalReservetypicallyraisesinterestratesto combatinflation.Jobsmaygetcut,hiringandpromotionsareputonhold,businessesseelossesor mayevencloseduetolackofconsumerspending.
Followingthatmaybearecessionwhichreultsindecreasingdemand,lowerproductionofgoodsdue tolowerdemand,andwiththecombinationofinflationandrecessionpeopletendtobemore conservativewiththeirspending
Typicallythistrioofeventstriggersbankstolowertheirinterestratestohelpseepeoplethroughthose challenges,andeventuallythingsturnaround.
Our“legacymembers”havebeenthroughthesetrialsmanytimesthroughouttheyearsandhave managedtostayaheadoftheseeconomicdownturnsbybeingprepared.Theydiversifytheirofferings. Aroundthesametime,itwasbroughttomya theChamberhadthreeareakioskswhichha installedaspartofapastcollaborativegrant betweentheCityofCanbyandtheChamber supportfromourpartnersatMt.HoodTerritor
Aftersomeresearch,Ifoundthatwewereres forupdatingthekiosksand,asluckwouldha stillhadthekeys!
Wesetouttoremoveoutdatedinformation,a updatedinformationandweinstalledcovere boxeswhichwefilledwithour“ExploreCanby Withhelpfromvolunteers,wedoourbesttok onaregularbasis

FEBRUARYMEMBERSLUNCHEON Lastyear’s“SpeedNetworking”eventwassofun,wedecidedtobringitbackagainthisyeartoo! Nearly60membersgatheredattheAntoniaBallroomtoattend. Eachofthemreceivedtheir ownvalentinewhichcontainedasmallforminsideforthemtocreatetheir“elevatorpitch”.
Attheappointedtime,eachmemberbegantoshare their“pitch”withothermembersseatedattheirtableand afterafewminutes,theybegantomovearoundthe roomtosharewithothermembers,andsoon ideally thosetheyhadnotmetbefore
TheoverallgoalwastohaveourChambermembers feelingcomfortablesharinganelevatorpitchwith anyonetheymeetandhaveitdownpat.

The Biz Buzz Training Tips: Gift Certificates, Gift Cards and Vouchers, Oh My! According to the Oregon Department of Justice:
Gift Certificates, Gift Cards and Gift Vouchers cannot expire unless they were sold at a discount. If they were sold at a discount, the expiration date must be at least 30 days after the sale date.
Gift cards cannot have a face value that decreases over time or due to lack of use.
Gift cards cannot have fees, such as inactivity, maintenance, or service fees.
If the face value of a gift card is less than $5 and it has been used for at least one purchase, the cardholder can redeem it for cash. However, Federal law states that such cards my expire at the end of five (5) years from the date of purchase. You can learn more HERE and HERE.
