AMBASSADOR PROGRAM MISSION

Our Chamber’s Mission:

To serve and support the Chamber membership through advocacy, education, transparent leadership, and passion for the growth of business in and around Canby, Oregon.

WHAT DO AMBASSADORS DO?

• Ambassadors are an elite group of volunteers

• Act as liaisons and the welcoming arm of the CACC.

• Provide a crucial link between the Chamber and its members to further the mission of the Chamber.

• Network and meet new people while supporting the local community, the Chamber of Commerce, and promoting their own business!

• Encourage business and community connections between members.

• They present to welcome new and existing members during events

• Connect and acquaint members with one another to facilitate new business opportunities and networking.

• Build their own business interests and reputation by helping others in this public forum.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE AN AMBASSADOR

✓ Ambassadors must be current members of the Chamber of Commerce

✓ Ambassadors must complete our Ambassador Orientation Program

✓ Ambassadors must serve for a period of at least one (1) calendar year

✓ Ambassadors must commit to a minimum of 2-5 hours of service per month (Hours may vary based on the number of events)

✓ Ambassadors must represent and promote the Chamber in a positive and professional manner

THE QUALITIES OF A SUCCESSFUL AMBASSADOR

• POSITIVE ATTITUDE - A successful Ambassador will be positive, fun, upbeat, genuine, friendly and attentive to others.

• COMMUNICATION SKILLS - Ambassadors play a critical role in attaining member feedback and must have active listening skills and be comfortable in initiating open, honest dialogue.

• TEAMWORK - Keeping your commitments, helping our staff, our members, our Board and our community are integral to the success of the Chamber.

• CACC KNOWLEDGE - A genuine appreciation and understanding of the Chamber’s mission, vision and core strategies is also key to an Ambassador’s success.

• CONFIDENTIALITY - Ambassadors understand and maintain confidentiality and sensitivity regarding internal Chamber business and information.

WHY SERVE AS AN AMBASSADOR?

Serving as an Ambassador allows you to become more involved in Canby’s thriving business community. This results in increased networking opportunities, enhanced visibility of your business, and numerous opportunities to market and promote your products and services. Several of our Board members started out as Ambassadors!

Ambassador Spotlights shine on you!

New Ambassadors receive “Welcome” post with a personalized mini-bio that will appear on our Chamber’s web page, on social media platforms, and in our eNewsletter! This will include information about their business and activities with the Chamber Ambassador Program.

You can share the positive aspects about Chamber membership while taking pride in your role as an Ambassador and a Chamber member.

NETWORK FOR FELLOW CHAMBER

MEMBERS BY PROMOTING THEIR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

The Chamber’s priority is to its members.

Whenever possible, we recommend Chamber member products and refer and connect people with services when asked by the community, visitors, and those looking to relocate to Canby.

FACILITATE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN CHAMBER STAFF AND MEMBERSHIP

If an Ambassador encounters a member with an issue or hears about or sees a trend (positive or negative) during interactions with members, always communicate this information to our Chamber staff. Maintain a professional confidentiality regarding Chamber, member and community information.

ATTEND MONTHLY AMBASSADOR MEETINGS

• Ambassadors meet with our Executive Director on a monthly basis

• Meetings present an excellent opportunity to communicate and network with your fellow Ambassadors

• Designed to discuss past events, upcoming opportunities, and ongoing projects

• Must attend at least 80% of meetings

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend and assist with Chamber events including:

• Good Morning Canby

• Monthly Chamber Luncheons

• Chamber After Hours

• Ribbon Cuttings

• Other events as needed

• Greet and Welcome new/existing Chamber members

• Work to Recruit new Ambassadors and Chamber members

• Welcome new businesses to Canby by dropping off membership information and a gift bag

• Promote upcoming Chamber events by:

• Liking, Following and Sharing on Social Media

• Help pass out information, fliers and posters around town

• Spread the word about Chamber events and member events too!

• Track your volunteer time - it helps with grant writing efforts!

AMBASSADOR BUSINESS CARDS

• Ambassadors are our best recruiters and therefore your business card will be a useful tool for introducing yourself to potential new members

GOOD MORING CANBY RESPONSIBILITIES

Registration

• Help with setting up the registration table

• Be friendly and welcoming to all incoming attendees

• Sign-in guests who have not RSVP’d with Chamber staff

• Register 1st-time guests & members

• Notes special requests from members & guest in registration log

Raffle Tickets

• Enthusiastically encourage ticket sales for our 50/50 raffle

• Collect incoming raffle items, thank the donor and place them prominently for all to see

• Tally raffle funds in preparation for the raffle drawing at the close of the program

Door Greeter

• Provide a friendly welcome to all members who enter to ensure a positive experience

• Help troubleshoot any problems guests encounter

• Friendly good-bye at main door

Floater

• Fill in when and where needed

• Sit at a table with new attendees to announce them when called upon

• Always on the lookout for someone attending alone and “Be A Buddy”

CALLING FOR BACK UP!

If an Ambassador signs up to work at an event and is unable to fulfill the commitment, it is the responsibility of the Ambassador to find a replacement.

MONTHLY AND ANNUAL EVENTS INCLUDE:

• Ambassador Monthly Meeting (80% attendance required) = 2 points

• Monthly Chamber Luncheon = 1point (attending) | 2 points

• Good Morning Canby = 1point (attending) | 2 points

• After-Hours Networking = 1point (attending) | 2 points

• Ribbon Cutting/Grand Opening Ceremonies = 1point (attending) | 2 points

• Member Annual Meeting = 1 point (attending) | 3 points

• Golf Tournament = 1 point (attending) | 3 points

• New Business Welcome = 2 points

• Bring a guest who joins the Chamber = 5 points

• Coffee & Conversation = 3 points
