Dear Members Things are back to what they are naming the ‘new’ normal, and we’ll take that. It is good to see our Venues bustling with activity again, especially in the late afternoons and early evenings, thanks to our new Happy Hour offer. We’re calling it Canberra’s Best Happy Hour and with two hours a day, seven days a week of 49% off beverages, we think it’s a fair call. Our new Wednesday Member's Badge Draw is also popular, with the prize on offer rising by $1,000 per week until it's won – or until it hits $50,000! We’re delighted to see Members back in our Venues, and we're still offering our home delivery service for those nights you want some ‘Southo’ food but can’t make it down to the Club. On Mother’s Day, as we did last year, we’ll have a fleet of drivers delivering our fabulous High Tea hampers across Canberra. See all the details of our Mother’s Day activities on page 9. We’re also getting back on track in planning upgrades to our Venues. Tuggeranong is a high priority, as is the Yacht Club, and we hope to reveal details of those plans in the coming months. Another focus area for us is better management of our car parks. Our car parks are there for the purpose of Members using the Club's facilities, but unfortunately

With improved systems in place, we will continue to offer complimentary car parking to Members using our Venues, while deterring those who use our car parks to go shopping or to work. The changes are expected to be implemented by July, and will include a grace period to ensure you are not taken by surprise. Further details will follow over the next few months through our weekly e-news, our Facebook page, our website at cscc.com.au and in venue. I look forward to seeing you around our Venues, and please remember to use the Check in CBR app when you visit us. It is now mandatory, through a public health direction, to use the app when visiting us. Government fines may apply for Members who do not check in using the app. We have multiple QR code scanning points throughout our Venues, and if you are unsure what to do, our friendly team is always there to help. Regards

Ian

Who do you support? We're doubling our Community Rewards support until 30 June. All you need to do is to choose your Partner! Launched in 2015, our Community Rewards Program has donated over $1.3 million to participating groups in the Canberra community. With 7.5 cents donated for every dollar of your food and beverage spend–at Woden, Tuggeranong, Jamison, and the Yacht Club–the rewards grow quickly. Last year was challenging for everyone, and we want to show our Community Rewards partners some extra love. So we're doubling Community Rewards for the remainder of March, April, May and June. That's 15 cents for every $1 spent for one hundred days. 4

Currently, there are over eighty community groups participating in the program, and close to 15,000 Members have nominated their preferred Rewards group, but we need your help to see these numbers grow. Ranging from local charities to school P&Cs, local sporting groups, social clubs, and everything else in between, each of these groups contribute to our local community in meaningful ways. With each group receiving double Rewards, this is the perfect opportunity to support your local

community by nominating your favourite group, then going out for some after work drinks or enjoying a meal with the family at your Club. Throughout the next few months, we'll be highlighting the fantastic work of our Community Rewards groups through our weekly eNews and on our Facebook page.

Haven’t nominated a Community Rewards group yet? There are two easy ways to select your preferred group so they can start earning Rewards every time you join us for a meal or a drink. Visit Reception next time you come into the Club and choose from the list of participants, or visit cscc.com.au/rewards to select a Community Rewards group online. Update your group, email and mobile to go in the running to win one of three $1,000 Southern Cross Club Gift Cards.

Until 30 June, all our Community Rewards Partners will earn

double rewards That's 15c for every dollar you spend on eligible food and beverages donated back to your preferred Community Rewards Partner. 5

Use your Member card to earn and redeem more StarRewards points.

All New StarRewards We’re introducing a bigger and better StarRewards Loyalty Program this year to give you more ways to earn and redeem. Promising better value to Members, our all new StarRewards Loyalty Program will be launched across each of our hospitality and health and wellness venues in July. All points earned from June 2019 will expire on 30 June this year, so make sure you use any existing points by end of June, by redeeming for food and beverages at their rate of 3:1 redemption. You'll still earn points when your card is inserted while playing our gaming machines, along with more ways to earn and redeem with our new program.

6

You can earn points in four new ways when our program launches in July: • Food and beverage spend across Woden, Tuggeranong, Jamison, the Yacht Club, Snapper and Stellar Café. • Function room hire, and prepaid food and beverage packages. • MV Southern Cross functions, dining events and sightseeing cruises. • Health and Wellness related spend such as Gym and Aqua Aerobics memberships, floats, massages, Personal Training and lessons at Stellar Swim.

From July, put your StarRewards points towards a gym membership, cruise the lake on the MV Southern Cross, and much more.

We’ll also be offering an expanded range of rewards. From July, you'll be able to redeem your points across: • Food and beverage purchases in our cafes, bars, restaurants and functions at all venues. • Function room hire. • MV Southern Cross cruises. • Health and Wellness areas such as Gym memberships, floats, massages and Personal Training sessions. With so many new ways to earn and redeem Rewards points, our all new StarRewards Loyalty Program recognises the diversity of our Club and we’re very excited to be offering even more value to Members come July.

L-R: Chefs Jojy, Brad, Phoebe and Alex.

The final event before we shut down last year, our flagship night is back for its seventh year. Returning for another year are Executive Chef Jojy Vattoly who will expertly prepare the entrée, and Head Chef Brad Howden who will bring a modern twist to the main course. Newcomers to the Signature Dinner, Sous Chef Phoebe Tarrant and Head Chef Alex Kimmorley, will be taking on appetisers and dessert respectively. Chef Phoebe will make Chefs’ Signature Dinner history as both our first female chef and first Sous Chef to participate. Starting with us as an apprentice in 2013, Phoebe’s talents were recognised in 2019 when she received the ClubsACT Rising Star Award. She’s excited to transport 10

diners to the tropics of South East Asia with ‘Holiday’ in Thailand, a collection of three appetisers inspired by Thai cuisine. Chef Jojy has featured for the last five years, and will this year present an exciting entrée, putting a fresh take on a classic salmon dish. Deviating from his usual Asian inspired offerings, Chef Brad will present a delicious White Pyrenees Lamb. With our Signature Dinner locked in for May, Chef Alex is ending the night with his aptly named dessert, Winter is Coming. Featuring a coffee cake and crunchy chocolate crumble, this will be a delicious finale to a spectacular night.

Above and right: scenes from recent Chefs' Signature Dinners.

AROU ITY N U M M CO Oncology Massage

Oncology Massage Limited (OML) are a not for profit training organisation who specialise in training Remedial Therapists, Bowen Therapists, and Beauty Therapists to provide massage services in a safe and comfortable way for those who have a history or diagnosis of cancer. 2020 saw OML forced to cancel 23 of 32 planned Oncology Massage Courses, but Managing Director David Bailey says the OML team are entering 2021 with tentative optimism. Their first training session of the year took place a few months ago in Sydney, with further courses planned for Townsville, Cairns, Canberra, Goulburn, Melbourne, Adelaide, the Gold Coast and Toowoomba throughout the year.

This year will also see OML develop the Safe Massage for People in Care program, to assist their graduates in providing safe and effective relief from a range of conditions affecting those with cancer, including depression, insomnia, scar tightness, lymphoedema, and muscular and skin conditions. This new Program is important because as David says, “Oncology massage can be a powerful and effective intervention for most people in care, not just those with a history or diagnosis of cancer.” Oncology Massage Limited participate in our Community Rewards Program, using the funds received to support the development of the Safe Massage for People in Care program. To support them, visit cscc.com.au/rewards or see your friendly Club receptionist.

Community Rewards Support a community, sporting or school group of your choice by linking them to your membership card, and we will calculate the equivalent of 15 cents for every dollar spent until 30 June on eligible food and beverages–at Woden, Tuggeranong, Jamison and Yacht Club–to be donated to your nominated group. See page 4 of this magazine for all the details.
