When we delve into someone’s story, we uncover layers that reveal their true essence. The question arises: Who is Tripat? A woman of unwavering determination, her journey from Ludhiana, Punjab, to Surrey, British Columbia, is an inspiring tale of resilience and achievement.
Cover Story written by Partick Walsh
Born in the bustling city of Ludhiana, Punjab, India, Tripat lineage is a testament to perseverance and accomplishment. Her great-grandfather was a soldier in World War I, paving the way for a legacy of service and honor. Her grandparents held a noble reputation, esteemed both within their community and internationally. Coming from an educated and illustrious family, her mother worked as a teacher and retired as a principle.
Tripat’s father began his professional journey as a lawyer before transitioning into a career in politics, guided by a clear principle: “The aspiration for political office should be rooted in serving others, not driven solely by personal gain.” His unwavering dedication to serving the nation, coupled with his pride in honoring the flag and his motherland, inspired his involvement in the political arena. This sense of duty and service has been instilled in his children, shaping their values and aspirations.
A child’s foundational principles are often a reflection of their upbringing, and Tripat exemplifies this legacy. Here in Canada, we are fortunate to witness her embrace her father’s ethos while carving her own path. With a steadfast commitment to serving her country, Tripat is making a meaningful impact by uplifting and supporting her local community.
Her father, Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal was former Vice President commonwealth parliament, former audit member international parliamentary union, former deputy speaker Indian parliament, former speaker two times Punjab legislative assembly.
“My daughter was initially uninterested in politics, focusing instead on extracurricular activities that helped shape her into a capable leader. After migrating to Canada, however, her interest in politics blossomed. She now understands the challenges and complexities of political life, along with the profound responsibility of serving others.
While I recognize the difficulties of a political career, particularly for women, I wish her all the best. It is essential to remember that true leadership is about selfless service to the people. I am confident that, with her inherited leadership qualities, she will uphold our family’s legacy with pride and dignity.
As her father, I salute her unwavering dedication to her country and the values she represents. May she continue
to be a source of pride and carry forward the blessings and guidance of her parents.” DR. Charanjit Singh Atwal Growing up in a close-knit family, Tripat was one of five siblings, each excelling in their chosen fields. Her sister is a doctor, another a professor, her brother a politician, and another brother an engineer. This environment of ambition and education profoundly shaped Tripat own aspirations.
Tripat’s own professional journey is as diverse as it is impressive. In India, she worked as a teacher before migrating to Canada in 2008 as a Permanent Resident. Determined to carve her own path, she embraced the
immigrant experience fully, refusing direct help from her influential family. As a single mother, her early days in Canada were marked by hard work and perseverance. She took on roles such as working in a superstore, serving as a cleaning supervisor in downtown Calgary, and later excelling in sales at JR Furniture.
In 2016, Tripat transitioned into real estate, a move that proved to be transformative. Starting from humble beginnings, she built a thriving career in land acquisition, establishing herself as a respected figure in the industry. Her entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there—she also pursued a paralegal career and is currently working towards a law degree from London.
Tripat attributes much of her drive and values to her father, whose life was a testament to hard work, simplicity, and honesty. His journey, marked by hardship and dedication to education, served as her guiding light. Additionally, her brother became an MLA at the age of 25 and provided her with guidance and support, reinforcing the importance of public service and leadership.
In an historical context Tripat was schooled in politics through the commonwealth with her father at her side as a child and on her own when she arrived in Canada as an immigrant. The democratic ideals never left her and proved to be a motivation for her to help others realize their dreams following her example of working hard and believing in the believe that you have an inherent potential waiting to be developed, if you decide to follow your inward voice of purpose bestowed upon you.
Women have been the cornerstone of families, societies, and civilizations throughout history. Their contributions span every aspect of life— economic, social, cultural, and political— shaping the trajectory of humanity’s past,
present, and future. Despite facing significant challenges, the role of women remains indispensable for the progress of mankind. This article explores the contributions, challenges, and critical importance of women to families, society, and the global future.
At the heart of every family, women often serve as the primary caregivers and nurturers. Their roles extend beyond biological reproduction to providing emotional, psychological, and moral support that fosters family unity. Mothers, daughters, and sisters contribute significantly to building resilient family structures. Women are often the emotional anchors, teaching values such as empathy, compassion, and discipline to future generations. Furthermore, many women today balance their familial responsibilities with professional careers, contributing financially to their households. They often take on dual roles, acting as breadwinners while maintaining a nurturing environment for their families. The modern woman exemplifies adaptability and resilience, seamlessly integrating tradition with modernity.
Women are integral to the social fabric of communities. Historically, they have been at the forefront of movements for social justice, human rights, and environmental sustainability. In the arts, sciences, and education, women’s contributions have paved the way for groundbreaking innovations and cultural enrichment. For example, figures like Marie Curie in science, Maya Angelou in literature, and Malala Yousafzai in education advocacy have left indelible marks on society.
In the workforce, women contribute to diverse industries, from healthcare and technology to politics and entrepreneurship. Their leadership fosters inclusivity, collaboration, and holistic problemsolving. Studies consistently show that organizations led by women in leadership perform better and are more innovative. That is why Tripat

domestic violence, sexual harassment, and human trafficking, continues to be a grave issue. The lack of access to healthcare, particularly reproductive health services, disproportionately affects women in underprivileged communities. Furthermore, unpaid labor—such as caregivers and like services -are under appreciated and a fair income needs to be addressed. In society, women contribute significantly to education, healthcare, governance, and community development. Educated women are instrumental in breaking cycles of poverty by educating the next generation and advocating for social reforms. Female leaders across fields, from science to politics, have brought diverse perspectives and innovative solutions to global challenges, proving the importance of gender inclusivity in decision-making.
Women’s participation in the workforce fuels economic development. According to global studies, increasing women’s labor force participation can substantially boost a country’s GDP. Female entrepreneurs, particularly in developing regions, drive innovation and create employment opportunities, fostering community development.
will do her best to support women in every way that will enhance their ability to flourish and prosper in the home, workplace and as leaders in their communities.
Despite their invaluable contributions, women face a myriad of challenges globally. Gender inequality remains pervasive, manifesting in wage gaps, limited access to education, and under representation in leadership roles. Societal norms and cultural practices in many regions still restrict women’s autonomy and opportunities.
Violence against women, including
Women preserve cultural heritage and pass down traditions, serving as custodians of identity and moral values. Their influence on children and communities often promotes empathy, cooperation, and ethical behavior, which are critical for social harmony.
As a public servant, Tripat firmly believes that the development of creative and innovative concepts plays a critical role in shaping the future of society. She emphasizes the importance of government officials understanding and interpreting the creative aspirations of the communities they serve. Additionally, she upholds the view that science serves as the foundation for all advancements and progress. Tripat is deeply committed to establishing an efficient and

responsive administrative body that effectively serves her constituents. The following outlines her core principles and the high standards she intends to uphold while serving the community that has entrusted her with their representation.
Tomorrow’s youth are faced with insurmountable odds working against them and need a compassionate, honest, and courageous leader that will represent them and help furnish what is required in a turbulent world to move forward successfully.
Tripat’s views are that the local challenges facing our society is a global concern and a cooperative, collaborative effort needs to be made to help curb the current trend of drug abuse, social inadequacies, including lack of educational services that can better prepare our
youth for an ever-changing world technologically and psychologically.
Social support programs are needed to cater to those vulnerable persons that are being abused, neglected, and lost due to lack of love, understanding and support.
Family is an important dynamic to Tripat and from an early age she was taught to contribute by helping impoverished children by teaching them, giving them an education that otherwise would not be available.
Tripat traveled worldwide with her father to over 90 countries when he became Vice President of the Commonwealth. Her father was honored by Queen Elizabeth II at New Westminster Hall a visit that lasted about a week, a memorable experience that instilled in her the Global Family Concept. We are not an island unto ourselves we share
a world with many different races, cultures, and creeds, living in a democracy of faith, hope and charity.
The art of leadership in a democracy lies in its ability to inspire, persuade, and unite. Unlike authoritarian systems, where compliance is commanded, democratic leadership relies on a leader’s capacity to cultivate trust, resonate with diverse constituencies, and articulate visions that galvanize collective action. The artistry of this process demands emotional intelligence, rhetorical skill, and an acute sensitivity to the complexities of human nature. It requires leaders to see beyond the surface—to grasp the fears, hopes, and aspirations of the people they serve.
Democracy, a timeless aspiration, and an evolving experiment, stands as one of humanity’s most profound accomplishments. Its vitality depends not merely on institutions but on the individuals who serve
within them. To govern in a democracy is not to reign, but to steward, protect, and elevate the collective aspirations of the people. Leadership in this context is an intricate balance of art, science, and administration—woven together by an unyielding commitment to integrity and duty.
The science of democratic governance brings precision, analysis, and evidence-based decisionmaking into the fold. Whether managing public health crises, addressing economic disparities, or navigating environmental challenges, the scientific aspect of leadership underscores the necessity for rigorous planning and adaptation.
By embracing a scientific mindset, leaders can approach problems methodically and craft solutions rooted in rationality, rather than personal preference or to appease any one person or group.
At its core, science encourages us to challenge assumptions, dissect systems, and anticipate outcomes—a discipline that aligns seamlessly with the responsibilities of governance. This analytical approach is essential for tackling the pressing issues of our time, from reducing economic disparities to safeguarding public health and addressing climate change.
Perhaps most critically, the science of governance requires a forwardlooking perspective. True leadership is not confined to immediate challenges; it demands the ability to anticipate future needs, adapt to evolving circumstances, and plan for sustainable, long-term outcomes. By blending moral clarity with scientific discipline, governance can rise to meet the complexities of the modern world.
While leadership often involves the art of persuasion and vision, governance itself is a science. Effective administration requires more than moral principles; it demands intellectual discipline and analytical thinking. Policymakers must embrace evidence-based approaches, leaning on research, expert analysis, and empirical data to guide their decisions.
Leaders who adopt this approach are better equipped to design strategic, well-informed solutions to pressing societal challenges, from reducing income inequality to managing the impacts of climate change.
Moreover, the science of governance requires a vision beyond the immediate. Effective leaders must anticipate future challenges, prioritize long-term planning, and adapt to changing realities. By combining the precision of science with the values of
democracy, governance can achieve the balance needed to address today’s needs while building a sustainable future.
The Administration of Governance Administration serves as the backbone of any government structure. It is through effective administration that policies are implemented, laws are enforced, and the public sector operates smoothly. The skills of planning, organizing, and managing resources are crucial
to the success of any governmental system. Administration is tasked with ensuring that the machinery of the state functions efficiently, providing essential services, and creating an environment in which citizens can thrive.
The administration is the cornerstone of any government system, playing a pivotal role in the functioning of the state and ensuring the successful execution of its objectives. It acts operationally, translating the visions

of leadership and policymakers into actionable realities. Without effective administration, even the most wellconceived policies and laws would remain theoretical concepts, unable to impact society in a meaningful way.
The administration’s primary responsibility is to implement government policies in a manner that is both efficient and effective, ensuring that the intended benefits reach the public. This involves a wide range of activities, from enforcing laws and regulations to managing public programs and services. Through meticulous planning, skillful organization, and strategic resource management, the administration lays the groundwork for the stability and functionality of the state.
Planning, for instance, involves anticipating future needs and challenges while devising strategies to address them. Organizing ensures that resources—whether human, financial, or technological—are allocated and utilized optimally. Managing resources requires maintaining accountability, monitoring progress, and adapting to changing circumstances to achieve
desired outcomes. Additionally, the administration plays a crucial role in fostering trust between governments and its citizens. By delivering essential services both provisionally and federally such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and public safety, those administrations directly impact the quality of life within a society. Its efficiency and transparency can significantly influence public perception of governance, strengthening the social contract between the state and its people.
Moreover, the administration is tasked with maintaining the continuity of governance, even amidst political transitions or external crises. It ensures that the machinery of the state operates seamlessly, creating an environment where citizens and businesses can thrive. By addressing public grievances, managing conflicts, and promoting social equity, it contributes to the overall stability and progress of a nation.
In essence, the administration is not just a technical or bureaucratic function; it is the lifeblood of governance. It serves as the bridge between policy and practice, the state, and its citizens, and the present and future. The effectiveness of any government hinges on the capabilities of its administrative apparatus, making it an indispensable component of societal development and national progress.
At its core, the role of an elected official is an ethical one. To assume office is to undertake a sacred trust, a compact between the leader and the people. This trust is built on the principles of service, accountability, and justice. It demands that leaders prioritize the common good over personal gain, embrace humility over hubris, and approach decision-making with empathy and foresight. Integrity is the cornerstone of this moral imperative. An elected official must be a person of unwavering discipline, for their actions set the tone for the society they lead. In times of prosperity, integrity ensures the equitable distribution of benefits. In times of crisis, it inspires confidence and resilience. Integrity is not merely a passive attribute but an active practice—a daily recommitment to truth, transparency, and fairness.
At its essence, the role of an elected official transcends the mechanics of governance; it is fundamentally an ethical calling. To step into office is to embrace a sacred covenant—a profound trust forged between the leader and the people they serve. This trust is not transactional but deeply moral, rooted in the enduring principles of service, accountability, and justice. It calls upon leaders to elevate the common good above self-interest, to choose humility over arrogance, and to navigate the complexities of decision-making with both empathy and foresight. At the heart of this moral imperative lies integrity— the bedrock upon which all meaningful leadership is built. True integrity is not a static quality but a living, breathing commitment, renewed each day in action and intention. An elected leader with a strong personality who can become a mirror for the society they guide,
setting a standard of virtue and accountability. In times of abundance, integrity ensures that prosperity is shared with fairness and equity. In moments of adversity, it becomes a beacon, instilling courage, and trust in the face of uncertainty.
Ultimately, to lead is not merely to govern; it is to embody the profound moral responsibility to uplift, protect, and inspire the collective human spirit.
This defines Tripat, her journey in life, and defender of human rights, as a champion of success , an example of what a single Mom, an immigrant from India, can become in the face of adversity, challenging her very core of existence, to persist with courage until she reaches the goal of seeing her rainbow of tomorrow, in the backdrop of life’s stormy weather, a passing breeze of challenges that has shaped her character; to become a leader of the people for the people she will influence and represent.
AS the clock struck midnight on December 31st, 2024, Canadians from coast to coast rang in the year 2025 with a spectacular array of celebrations, marking a new chapter for the nation. From grand firework displays in major cities to intimate family gatherings in rural communities, Canadians embraced the occasion with a spirit of renewal, joy, and unity. The celebrations reflected both the resilience of the country and its diverse cultural heritage, setting the tone for a hopeful and optimistic year ahead.
Major Urban Celebrations
In cities like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Ottawa, the New Year’s Eve celebrations were nothing short of extraordinary. As has become tradition, these cities were the hubs of large-scale public events, attracting thousands of revelers eager to welcome the new year.
The city’s iconic Nathan Phillips Square was transformed into a vibrant festival ground. The celebrations featured an array of live performances, including musical acts, dance performances, and acrobatic shows. A massive countdown clock kept the crowd on edge as they eagerly awaited the stroke of midnight. At 12:00 a.m., a stunning fireworks display lit up the sky above the Toronto skyline, creating a sea of color and light that dazzled attendees. The
event also highlighted Toronto’s diversity, with a range of cultural performances that included everything from Indigenous drum circles to classical music. Mayor Olivia Chow addressed the crowd, expressing her hopes for a bright and inclusive future for the city, one that continues to embrace its multicultural identity.
Ottawa: Canada’s capital went all out for New Year’s Eve with a beautiful mix of tradition and modernity. Confederation Park in the heart of the city hosted a family-friendly event with ice sculptures, music, and a lively celebration of Canada’s winter sports culture. For many, the highlight of the evening was the
magnificent firework display over Parliament Hill, lighting up the Ottawa skyline and offering a magical start to the new year. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was in attendance, took the opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of the previous year and shared a hopeful message for the future, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in the coming months.
Regional and Local Celebrations
While large cities were certainly the focal points of the celebrations, smaller towns and communities across Canada also played host to memorable New Year’s events that reflected the country’s diverse cultural mosaic.
Meanwhile, in the Maritimes, residents of Halifax gathered at the waterfront for the annual “Halifax First Night” celebrations, which included a mix of music, local theater, and food stalls. The event, which emphasized local talent and creativity, attracted large crowds who enjoyed performances by regional musicians and artists. In Newfoundland and Labrador, the New Year’s celebrations were steeped in traditional customs, including New Year’s Day “mummering,” a practice where people dress in elaborate costumes and visit neighbors in a festive show of fun and goodwill.
In the Prairies, small towns like Regina and Saskatoon held cozy, community-oriented gatherings. These events brought people together in community centers and local halls, where families and friends enjoyed hot cocoa, music, and indoor activities. The emphasis in these regions was on togetherness and community spirit, with many attending church services before heading to local parks for fireworks displays at midnight.
Indigenous communities across Canada marked the transition into 2025 with cultural ceremonies and gatherings that emphasized spiritual renewal, unity, and reflection. Many Indigenous leaders used the occasion to highlight the importance of honoring the past while embracing a vision of healing and progress for future generations. Ceremonial gatherings took place on reserves and in urban centers, featuring traditional music,
drumming, and dancing. Elders led prayers and reflections on the values of connection to land, family, and community.
A central theme throughout Canada’s New Year celebrations was unity. As the world faced global challenges, from environmental concerns to political instability, Canada’s New Year’s Eve events reflected the nation’s determination to come together, irrespective of background, language, or belief. This sense of collective optimism was not just echoed in speeches by public figures, but also in the spirit of camaraderie witnessed in every street, square, and gathering space across the country.
As the first dawn of 2025 broke across the vast expanse of Canada, Canadians found themselves looking ahead with hope and resolve. Whether in urban centers, small towns, or Indigenous communities, the celebrations
served as a reminder that together, the people of Canada can navigate the challenges of the future, emerging stronger and more united. Looking Ahead to 2025
As Canada steps into 2025, the focus is on embracing a more inclusive future. Public leaders and citizens alike are committed to building a society based on understanding, equity, and mutual respect. The New Year’s celebrations were a moment to pause and reflect, but also to look forward with excitement and anticipation. With an ever-growing appreciation for diversity and an enduring spirit of optimism, Canada has set the stage for a year filled with promise, renewal, and the continued strength of its people.
In the spirit of renewal and hope, Canadians of all ages danced, sang, and cheered as the clock ticked away the final moments of 2024. And as they embraced the first hours of 2025, it was clear that the celebrations were just the beginning of a new chapter in the country’s rich and storied history.

She now holds a Canadian professional engineer’s (P.Eng.) licence from Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (PEBC), PMP certification from Project Management Institute, and is a recognized Canadian Electrical Code Instructor from Technical Safety BC.
Being an immigrant herself, Supneet Chawla, now a qualified Canadian Electrical Engineer, an approved Canadian Electrical Code Instructor from Technical Safety BC, and Founder and CEO of ACE trades and Technical Institute and ACE Community College, had a very little support from the local colleges after migrating to Canada 20+ years ago. Along with challenges due to language and being a brown female in a very male dominated career, she had to jump a lot of hoops to prepare for seven challenge examinations to get her P.Eng. designation with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (PEBC) to practice Engineering in her field.
Supneet did not forget the experience of coming to a new country, starting from scratch in her career and re-training herself to become equivalent to a Canadian Engineering graduate. She decided to then help immigrants like herself to get the training they need in construction trades including

Supneet, an immigrant woman of color, an entrepreneur, a wife, and a mother, is still a teacher at heart and continues to teach Electrical programs for ACE. With a team of 50+ employees and contractors working with her at ACE, she still motivates and supports one-on-one all her students to get their career goals without giving up because of language barriers, racism, and
community pressure. Supneet’ s journey is motivated by her desire to leave a legacy for her daughter. “Every person has the right to education and choose a life he or she wants, and no one, I mean NO-ONE can dictate what we can or cannot do. Teaching my daughter to always stand up for what she believes in and not back down because of social barriers or circumstances is the life I live by and is very well reflected in all my actions. We ladies are powerhouses, and nothing can stop us in achieving the life we deserve!!” says Supneet.
SANDEEP SINGH KAILA, who has several different GWR records over the years, has moved his focus from spinning basketballs to footballs and next year will put up $10,000 of his own money to challenge one person to break all four records he currently owns.
Kaila initially made headlines in 2018 for establishing a GWR for spinning a basketball on a toothbrush for 1:13.08 seconds. He went on to establish and set a new mark in spinning an American football and rugby ball on one finger in 2021. He moved onto spinning a rugby ball on one finger and has held that record of 35.33 seconds since 2022. He also holds the GWR for spinning two American footballs at once.
Kaila’s new time mark for spinning an American football on one finger of 40.56 seconds was set in March and recently approved by GWR. He decided to attempt the record to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8. The review took several months and he recently received his official documentation. His previous record was 27 seconds and Kaila explained he wanted to make this one more difficult to beat.
Kaila also established a new GWR of 21.1 seconds for spinning two footballs at once on July 4, 2024. He is waiting on final approval on that number and following that he will launch the $10,000 challenge.
He said it’s always a nice feeling to break records, noting that he has now established 13 records so far.
“I’m feeling very well about it all,” he said. “Even this time Guinness World Records will be publishing this record [one football] and rugby world record in their book. So I’m very happy to hold it.”
But he’s not an overnight sensation, Kaila became fascinated

Spinning a volleyball is a popular past time in his native India and he practised for years only to discover that Guinness didn’t track volleyball spinning. He moved on to soccer balls, but again found out that it was only basketball spinning that Guinness officially recognizes. He went on to help create the football and rugby

Kaila said the $10,000 challenge money will be coming out of his own pocket and that he is likely to give up the world record chasing for the time being.
“I will finish my record – the 13th record will be my last – and after that I’m going to challenge the whole world that if anyone can break my four records I’m going to pay them $10,000 American dollars,” he said. “I’m going to challenge the whole world.”
All four records have to be broken and approved by GWR in order to earn the cash.
Kaila said that 2025 is going to be an exciting year for him personally, as he is hoping to appear on the show America’s Got Talent and then launch the $10,000 challenge.
