FIVE TIPS TO BE MORE ECO-FRIENDLY By Hannah Garrett

1.Ditch that plastic packaging! From single-use plastic bags, to literally any packaged items you buy at a grocery store, plastic can seem unavoidable. When it comes to buying your groceries, try using a burlap sack, or any reusable tote bag instead! 2.There are plenty things that you use in your daily life that are reusable. Exchange your cling wrap for some silicone lids, reusable towels for any daily tasks like drying the dishes or removing your makeup can even turn your old t-shirts into cleaning rags as well. Reuse cans and glass jars too! 3.Instead of buying clothes made from brand new fabrics, try shopping second-hand. You might be pleasantly surprised about how many cool, unique statement pieces you can find, and you are doing your part to reduce the amount of new fabric that needs to be produced for consumers. 4.Reduce your food waste. This means that we should try to be more aware of the portions of food that we eat- that is, how much we know we will eat each meal. 5.Forgive yourself for the things you are not able to reduce, reuse, or recycle! There are plenty of things that we use in our daily lives that we just simply can’t make better use of after they get old, break, or just can’t be used anymore.

Blake's Coffee Shop In need of a realxing evening, but don't want to leave your dog at home alone? Blake's is your place to go! Blake's Coffee Shop has been located at 1426 W University Blvd, since 2018. They are known for their Topeca coffee, homemade pastries, sandwiches, and their soups. They use organic and locally-sourced ingredients to make all of their items. The newly added dog park is located in the back of the building. Mendy Blake, owner, stated,“We just wanted a place where dogs had a place to run and play and for the people to enjoy. You don’t have to have a dog to enjoy the outside space.” The shop provides multiple toys and an obstacle course for the dogs to play with and to use. Blake also said that other animals besides dogs are welcome, as long as they can fit through the coffee shop doors. There is also an opportunity to rent out the back deck for parties or hammocks by the hour. Inside the shop itself is a peaceful back room that is perfect for doing homework or just relaxing. Stop by Blake's Coffee Shop and tell them The Campus Note sent you.

DIY Gifts for the Holidays Hot Chocolate Bombs: Step 1. Drop 1 tablespoon tempered chocolate into each of 6 parchment paper cupcake liners. Use a brush to coat the bottom and sides of the liners with the chocolate. Let sit at room temperature until the chocolate is hardenened, 5 to 15 minutes. Step 2.Fill with cocoa and marshmallows. Step 3. Close the bombs with more chocolate. Drizzle 1 tablespoon tempered chocolate over the filling in each liner. Use the back of a small spoon to smooth the chocolate over the filling to completely enclose it. Let sit at room temperature until the chocolate is completely hardened, 15 to 30 minutes.

Ingredients: 12 ounces high-quality semi-sweet chocolate bars or chips, such as Ghirardelli 6 tablespoons hot cocoa mix 1 cup mini marshmallows 6 cups whole or 2% milk

Picture Collage:

There are multiple apps available that can be used to create picture collages! Simply download an app like PhotoCollage and choose your photos. Once you've chosen your pictures, print it out and put it in a frame. Frames can be found for $1 at the Dollar Tree.

Snow Globe: 1. First up, make sure your jars are cleaned and dried thoroughly. Once dried, you may want to use a lint-free cloth and glass cleaner to remove any smudges or fingerprints from the inside of the jars. 2.Using your sandpaper, scuff up the underside of the lid. This will help the epoxy to hold in the next step. 3. Attach your chosen figurines to the underside of each lid using a dollop of epoxy. Allow the epoxy to sit and dry. 4. Next up, fill your jar just short of full with distilled water. You can generally purchase distilled water anywhere that you buy bottled water, such as the grocery store or pharmacy. 5. Add the tiniest drop of glycerin to the water. For a larger jar you may want to add a tiny bit more. 6. Add your glitter to the jar, using more or less depending on how snowy you’d like your snow globe to appear. For best results use tinsel glitter (which has larger glitter particles). 7. Insert your figurine and screw the lid on firmly and give it a good shake. Ingredients: Clean jars with lids Distilled Water Glycerin Figures/trees Tinsel glitter Epoxy Sand paper
