Das Programm „Al Massira“ (Die Reise) hilft Menschen aus der arabischen Welt, die Bibel kennenzulernen. Alle Teilnehmenden haben das Miteinander und die Gespräche genossen.

Looking for Answers... Al Massira is a Journey Why use Al Massira? Jesus took a journey to a village called Emmaus, recorded in the book of Luke, with two friends who were struggling to find answers to some big questions. He explained to them, through the messages (or signs) of the ancient Prophets, the answers they were searching for. Al Massira aims to take small groups of friends on a similar journey to discover answers that are relevant for today’s world and reveal the true identity of the Messiah. • For existing friendship groups, which can include both inquirers and Christians. • Presenting the Christian faith through a chronological overview of the Bible. • Centres the Christian faith in its original Middle Eastern context. • I ncludes a variety of integrated activities: viewing the films, open discussion, prayer, food and companionship. • Why is the world in such turmoil? • Where can I find forgiveness? • Where is God in my problems and struggles? • Can my good deeds really cancel out my bad ones? • Does God listen when I call upon him? • How can I know what God wants from me? • How can I know if God will accept me when I die? • What are the ‘signs’ of the Prophets, what do they mean for me today? • Who was the Messiah, and what was his ‘sign’? Al Massira explores these questions from the perspective of the Holy Scriptures. The films are documentary in style, using contemporary media formats: on‐location shots, teaching slots, dialogue, discussion, vox pops, dramas and personal testimonies. Follow the presenter as he sets out on a journey of discovery t hat takes him on location within the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. Many scenes are filmed where the events portrayed in scripture actually took place. The Al Massira resource includes: • A set of 13 short films on DVD. • Discussion Guide (Questions from the Journey) • Participants' Notes (Notes from the Journey) • Course Leaders' Guide • It is self explanatory rather than comparative with any other philosophy. • Anticipates and addresses the common issues about the Messiah that many people struggle with. • Relevant for all ages and suitable for both men and women. • Can be used with or without the written resources. • Presents a clear overview of the biblical message before encouraging each person to make up their own mind. An open place: to walk with the Prophets and meet the Messiah

Treffen sich zwei Christen, zwei Muslime und zwei Konvertiten …

Was der Anfang eines Witzes sein könnte, ist von April bis August 2019 genau so in unserem Berliner Veranstaltungsort „Mittelpunkt“ passiert. Ich war einer der sechs Leute, die immer wieder für Al Massira zusammenkamen. Das ist arabisch und heißt soviel wie „Wanderung“ oder „Reise“.

Unterwegs waren wir gemeinsam mit einem Ägypter von heute, der sich in 13 Videoeinheiten mit größter Neugier der Frage widmet, was das Alte und das Neue Testament zu sagen haben. Er folgt dabei den Spuren, die Abraham, Mose und andere Propheten hinterlassen haben, reist an Orte des Geschehens, interviewt Menschen und setzt sich intensiv mit den Texten auseinander, die uns überliefert sind. Auf seiner Reise stellt er viele Fragen, wie sie auch einzelne aus unserer Gruppe formulierten: Mahmud kämpfte sehr mit der Überlegung, ob alles vorherbestimmt ist und ob man überhaupt von einem freien Willen sprechen kann. Mashd* fragte sich schon länger, wie man Gottes Liebe und seine Gerechtigkeit zusammenbringen kann. Und für Kariem* stand der Klassiker im Raum: Warum gibt es Leid in unserer Welt?

Und was glaubt der andere? Die Videos geben, ähnlich wie die Bibel, keine direkten Antworten auf diese Fragen. Sie stellen vielmehr dar, wie die biblischen Charaktere mit diesen Spannungen gelebt haben. Wie sie an den großen Verheißungen Gottes festhielten, die vor allem in Jesus Realität wurden. Gesprächsstoff gab es dabei genug, und so saßen wir nach jedem Video noch eine Stunde zusammen, um die Inhalte zu vertiefen. Die Motive der einzelnen Teilnehmer waren dabei ganz unterschiedlich: Mashd trieb das Interesse zu verstehen, was ihre christlichen Freunde glauben. Kariem konnte aufgrund von Erfahrungen in seiner Heimat nichts mehr mit dem Islam anfangen und war trotz großer Zweifel noch auf der Suche nach Gott. Für Jamal und Mahmud hingegen waren die Treffen eine Art Glaubensgrundkurs, um Überzeugungen zu vertiefen, die sie noch gar nicht lang teilten. Und mittendrin war ich mit einer Studentin und versuchte, die Gruppe bestmöglich zu leiten. Da es keine Sprache gab, die wir alle sprachen, hatte ich die Möglichkeit, meine Arabischkenntnisse anzuwenden. Die Filme schauten wir im arabischen Original mit deutschen Untertiteln, Bibelstellen lasen wir laut in beiden Sprachen vor, und wenn mir in der anschließenden Diskussion mal die Worte fehlten, gab es immer einen der Teilnehmer, der das Gesagte gern auf Deutsch oder Arabisch übersetzte. Unsere gemeinsame Reise war sehr friedlich und freundschaftlich. Auch wenn sie jetzt erst einmal beendet ist, bin ich dankbar, dass Gott weiterhin mit jedem Einzelnen von uns unterwegs ist.

Gießen, Nena und die Idee, einfach anzufangen

99 Ideen, Gutes zu tun

2017 hat Campus für Christus in Deutschland sein 50-jähriges Jubiläum gefeiert. Damals wollten wir keine Festveranstaltung mit christlicher Prominenz, sondern haben uns überlegt, der Stadt Gießen 50 Geschenke zu machen. So versorgten wir um sechs Uhr morgens Taxifahrer am Bahnhof mit Kaffee, boten Passanten auf dem Seltersweg, der Gießener Fußgängerzone, Gebet an, und veranstalteten einen Bibelmarathon, bei dem Freiwillige innerhalb von einer Woche die ganze Bibel vorlasen.

Das Programm war bunt, fröhlich, hilfreich, und die Gießener waren begeistert. Wir auch. Nach den Jubiläumsfeierlichkeiten war klar: In irgendeiner Form sollte das weitergehen. Aber wie? Kam die zündende Idee wirklich beim Luftballonstart? Das ist nicht mehr nachzuvollziehen. Doch frei nach Nena, die 1983 mit ihren „99 Luftballons“ einen Hit landete, der bis heute gespielt und mitgesungen wird, entwickelte Harry Weiß von GAiN mit seinem Team den Gedanken weiter: 99 Aktionen, das wäre doch etwas … Was dabei herauskam, waren „99 Ideen, Gutes zu tun“: vom Abgeben von gebrauchtem Spielzeug über eine Kleidertauschbörse bis hin zum Baueinsatz im Ausland. Tatsächlich ist in der Ideensammlung für jeden etwas dabei – für jeden Geldbeutel und jedes Zeitkontingent. Es geht einfach darum, Gottes Liebe sichtbar zu machen. Praktisch. Greifbar. Und wenn Sie sich jetzt überlegen, dass Sie das schon wollten, Ihnen aber noch die zündende Idee fehlt, dann haben wir etwas für Sie: Dieser Impulse liegt das Heft „99 Ideen, Gutes zu tun“ bei. Blättern Sie es einmal durch. Tun Sie sich mit anderen zusammen. Und fangen Sie einfach an.

Wie meinte Nena mit Blick in diese Welt? Heute zieh ich meine Runden / seh die Welt in Trümmern liegen. / Hab ’nen Luftballon gefunden / denk’ an dich und lass ihn fliegen.
