During the Warrior Week and Warrior PATHH programs at CSG, our Remedy Kitchen crew gets to know so many incredible people. Every once and awhile, we get to make new furry friends as well
We know that service dogs can be a support to veterans as they transition back home. We asked Warrior PATHH alumni, Jeremy Blanks a few questions about his service dog.
Jeremy and Nelly came to CSG in March to attend the Warrior PATHH program.
Question: What is your dog's name and ow long have you had a service dog?
Answer: I have had Nelly since 2015 funded by Semper Fi Fund and trained by Canines For Hope out of Palm City, FL
Question: What led to your decision to get a service dog?
Answer: While I was in recovery from the injuries I sustained overseas, I was going through therapy at an army post in Fort Belvoir, VA One of the programs was a service dog program where veterans can help train the dogs This was the biggest impact of taking on my own journey to getting a service dog
WHAT
The biggest impact of having a service dog would be the “grounding” effect they have on your emotions. Veterans who experience PTSD have a tendency to loose track of who they are and where they are. Having a dog puts you back in the driver seat reminding you of where you are.

In the remedy kitchen, we love the pups too! Here's a couple of recipes to help your dog beat the heat!

1/2 c berries, pureed 10 oz plain yogurt
All treats will be poured into a silicone mold, and placed in the freezer for 3-4 hours (or until solid).
1. Banana Peanut Butter Pupsicles: In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave peanut butter for 10 to 20 seconds and stir until pourable. Pour peanut butter in mold, add banana to fill the mold, and swirl with a knife.
2. Yogurt and Berries Pupsicles: Blend berries into a paste. Combine spoonfuls of berries and yogurt until molds are filled, and swirl with a knife.
3. Pumpkin and Banana Pupsicles: Combine spoonfuls of pumpkin and mashed banana until molds are filled, and swirl with a knife.
