Camp For All is a unique, barrier-free camp working MISSION in partnership with more than 65 not-for-profits to enrich the lives of children and adults with challenging illnesses and special needs and their families, throughout the year. CAMP FOR ALL is the national leader in creating and providing proven life-changing experiences for children and adults with challenging illnesses and special needs through passionate and professional staff, cutting edge facilities and innovative programming. The barrier-free, not just accessible, camp is located on 206 acres in Washington County, Texas and served more than 10,000 campers in 2018. CAMP FOR ALL 2U provides this same life-changing experience for children who are unable to leave the hospital. The unique, award winning, one-week day camp program took place inside six hospitals in 2018 and proved to be a gateway for those children to get back into life.
CAMPERS come to CAMP FOR ALL with many challenges including autism, muscular dystrophy, cancer, Down syndrome, cognitive differences, multiple sclerosis, neurofibromatosis, PKU, spina bifida, sickle cell disease, seizure disorders, HIV, brain trauma, PTSD, missing limbs and more.
A BIG THANKS to our Donors, more than 65 Partners and the entire Camp For All family for making 2018 another outstanding year! Both the Brenham gala, “A Prickly Affair” and “All the Places You’ll Go” in Houston were very successful. In addition, our donors were very generous in so many other ways.
During another busy year, we moved into new office space in Houston, while at Camp all the cabins were reroofed with metal panels, our herd of horses was increased to 23, the canoeing dock/amphitheater project was started, and thanks to our staff we got rave reviews in our energy audit! Our goal is to always monitor and lower costs while maintaining the world-class Camp For All experience. Our staff continues to stay on the cutting-edge of special needs camping – researching best practices, sharing with other camps and training – all the while providing more than 10,000 campers with an un-paralleled camping experience. A number of new camps were added in 2018 and many that were affected by Hurricane Harvey returned. Camp For All 2U continues to grow, partnering with six hospitals in 2018.
But to find out what makes Camp For All such a magical place, please volunteer at Camp or at a Camp For All 2U. The week my wife, Diann and I spend each July at Camp Hope is truly the highlight of our year! We have watched HIV positive campers grow from 7-year olds into young adults, while listening to the stories they share about the difference that coming to Camp For All has made in their lives. Volunteering is an addictive experience, but in all the right ways!
