Mission Camp For All transforms the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs.
Overview
Located in Burton, Texas, the 206-acre Camp For All site features more than 100,000 square feet of facilities, two lakes, nature trails, wooded areas, cleared areas for a wide range of activities, and a pool. Camp For All was designed with no barriers for children and adults with special needs to experience the thrill of Camp and nature.
More than 65 different nonprofit Partners bring their camps to Camp For All. We have the ability to serve nearly 9,000 campers per year.
Camp For All has served more than 190,000 children and adults with challenges since our gates opened in 1998, including cancer, blood disorders, burns, autism, muscular dystrophy, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, kidney disease, developmental disabilities, Phenylketonuria, neurofibromatosis, hearing and sight impairments, and traumatic brain injuries.
All of our programming is “adaptive,” meaning the activities can be accomplished regardless of the campers’ challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs. Camp For All provides an environment that is free of the barriers in the everyday world, such as eight-foot-wide sidewalks to maximize mobility in wheelchairs, a sloping entrance into the pool with a special lift, ramps and special saddles to aid horseback riders, low beds with wide spaces in cabins, and large and accessible showers and toilet areas.
The culture of inclusion is underscored throughout the Camp site, which is truly built to “level the playing field” for all.
Values
• Camp For All is a leader in creating and providing proven life-changing experiences through passionate and professional staff, cutting-edge facilities, and innovative programming.
• We believe the Camp For All experience is essential because it provides joyful and life-changing opportunities for all.
• We are barrier-free to ensure that the Camp For All experience is accessible to all and to keep campers physically and emotionally safe.
• We respect and celebrate the uniqueness of every Camp and camper by demonstrating and cultivating compassion, empathy, and inclusiveness.
• We transform “can’t do” into “can do” by fostering each camper’s independence, building their confidence through encouragement and support, and helping them discover their full potential.
• We exceed expectations by providing excellent staff, programming, and facilities, and we are committed to innovation.
Collaborative Business Model
Camp For All collaborates closely with our nonprofit Partners to serve our shared campers. We provide the barrier-free camp, professional staff, adaptive programming, and appropriate foods. As part of our mission, Camp For All raises more than $3.1 million annually to provide half of the cost for each camper to come to Camp.
Our nonprofit Partners bring the campers, the medical staff, and the “in-cabin” counselors. Partners also provide the other half of the camper costs, so most of our campers come free-of-charge.
Camp For All 2U
Launched in 2014, Camp For All 2U is an award-winning outreach program that brings the Camp For All experience into hospitals, schools, and social service agencies. Camp For All 2U serves campers who are unable to attend Camp in Burton, Texas, but still deserve the joy and benefits of the Camp experience.
A typical day at Camp For All 2U includes a variety of activity rotations, such as fishing, canoeing, archery, self-care spa, putt-putt, and arts and crafts – all uniquely barrier-free and indoors. Campers also participate in Camp classics like pie-in-the-face and s’mores.
There is no cost for campers to participate in Camp For All 2U.
Positive and Proven Outcomes
The findings from the four-year Outcome Study conducted by Texas A&M University show that Camp For All is accomplishing its mission. Camp For All provides opportunities for campers to find hope, grow in self-confidence, and realize they are not alone. Discovering they are not defined by their challenge, campers focus on what they “can do.”

Message from the President and CEO
Dear Camp For All Family,
A 12-year-old boy texts his friends about his first zipline ride. A high school senior writes about her experiences as a volunteer for her college admissions essay. A mother talks to her coworkers about the new confidence and independence she has seen in her twins.
Stories are powerful tools. They capture history, shape cultures, create connections, and inspire action. In the case of Camp For All, stories possess the power to illustrate our mission of transforming the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs.
For more than 30 years, the Camp For All family has had a deep sense of duty to our shared mission. Our collective commitment plays an indispensable role in not just supporting our campers, but also in bringing them together – in some instances, for the first time – to discover life. I believe that when we tap into the potential of our mission, no life-changing experience is too big to be achieved, no activity too challenging to be accomplished.
Transforming the World
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is spending time with our campers. Listening to their stories about the positive lasting impact Camp For All has on those we are privileged to serve are powerful reminders of the profound nature of our work.
I recently had the pleasure of spending time with our Shining Stars campers. Led by a member of our Board of Directors and former Board Chair Joshua Samuels, M.D., Shining Stars is a Camp for children and teens with kidney disease.
Strapped into a harness with several pounds of safety equipment on, I watched a boy, around nineor 10-years-old, make his way up our climbing wall. A challenging task even for someone twice his age, our camper hesitated a few minutes into his climb. He questioned his abilities with a series of deep breaths and nervous comments, “I’m not too sure about this,” and “I really don’t know if I can do it.”
That is when the power of Camp For All kicked in. From fellow campers to staff members and volunteers, dozens of us shared words of encouragement. After one final, “You’ve got this!” echoed across Camp, he had a renewed sense of determination. In fact, as soon as he reached the top, he proclaimed, “I want to do that again!”
Pat Prior Sorrells
Stories like this one are told hundreds of times a day, if not more, about Camp For All. I shared my experience because it not only speaks volumes about how Camp helps our campers discover their full potential, but it also cultivates hope and joy.
While the stories of how this moment impacted our camper – for example, a renewed focus on his treatment, setting higher goals in school, or trying new activities with friends –have yet to be told, the promise of what could be inspires us, day in and day out. Moments lead to milestones, and milestones lead to motivation and momentum.
Performing with Purpose and Passion
Camp For All had another outstanding year in 2024. We collaborated with approximately 65 nonprofit Partner organizations to increase the number of campers by 9% compared to 2023. Since opening our gates in 1998, more than 190,000 campers have participated in Camp For All.
I am proud to share that Camp For All received three honors at the Annual American Camp Association Legends of Camping Award celebration in February 2025:
• Peter Boudreaux, AIA, Curry Boudreaux Architects, received the Friend of Camp Award for designing our beautiful Burton, Texas campus, followed by several other camps in Texas;
• Camp For All Program Supervisor Jordan Pugh was the recipient of the Rising Star Award; and
• Camp For All 2U, which brings the fun of camping to children who are unable to leave the hospital, received the Program Excellence Award.
It was also an exceptional year thanks to our generous donors whose contributions make such a meaningful difference in the lives of our campers. Last year, funding helped drive transformational changes through our innovative barrier-free experiences. I cannot thank our donors enough!
In 2024, Camp For All fully remodeled seven cabin bathrooms, including new tile, plumbing fixtures, toilets, faucets, grab bars, and mirrors. We installed water bottle filling stations in these cabins so our campers could easily refill their personal tumblers to stay hydrated. We also installed new gutters at the Ranch.
There were new additions to the Camp For All family, with two llamas, Lloyd and Rocky, and a sheep named Otis joining our barnyard.
So far in 2025, Camp For All has introduced three-dimensional targets to archery, expanded our Ranch programming to include team building activities and games, and added a second Combi Oven, a combination oven that uses
three methods of cooking in one appliance, making our food services operation even more efficient and our food even tastier.
A new multifunctional cooking system, iVario, is on its way to Camp and will be in use soon. The iVario is beneficial for campers with dietary restrictions due to its precise temperature control, ability to cook multiple dishes simultaneously in different zones, and intelligent cooking features, ensuring consistent and safe preparation for a variety of needs, including those with allergies or specific health conditions.
Focusing on the Future
Camp For All has never rested on our laurels. While we are proud of our past milestones and accomplishments, we are also driven by the future and the ongoing need for our programs.
A 2024 study by the Texas Workforce Investment Council reported that there are more than 3.5 million Texans who have at least one disability. According to a March 2022 report from the Texas Commission on Special Education Funding, Texas has experienced a nearly 38% increase in the number of special education students since 2013. Additionally, Texas has seen the largest increase in serving students with disabilities over the past three years.
These numbers will increase as Texas is expected to have the third highest growth rate of any American state this decade, with its population reaching an estimated 32.5 million in 2030, according to the latest projection from the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service. Between 2020 and 2030, the center forecasts the Lone Star State will see its population increase by 11.4%.
We are ready to meet the needs head-on. As part of our mission, Camp For All must raise $3.1 million annually to cover half the cost of each camper’s attendance at Camp. We were able to achieve this goal in 2024, thanks in part to our generous donors at our three annual fundraising events:
Camp For All Gala in Houston, Under the Big Top;
Camp For All Gala in Brenham, Texas, Bright Lights and Bluebonnets; and Camp For All Goes Over The Edge, where brave supporters rappelled 20 stories down The Woodlands Towers at The Waterway to
With more than 74% of every donated dollar allocated to our camper programs, all gifts, regardless of their size, truly make a difference in our efforts to enhance the reach and impact of Camp For All.
Our Blazing New Trails Capital Campaign, which helps drive our efforts to build a second Camp on nearly 380 acres of land donated to Camp For All by the Charles Jago Elder Foundation, continued its positive trajectory throughout the year. Our campaign donors will ensure we are well-positioned to serve even more campers well into the future.
Leading the Way
Finally, I would like to thank Camp For All leadership, including our Board of Directors, Advisory Board members, Emerging Leaders Board, and Camp Friends Board, for their dedication and service to our mission. I value each and every one of you. Camp For All and our campers benefit in countless ways from your experience, expertise, and generosity. I look forward to the year ahead with you.
To our talented employees, I would like to express my gratitude to you for your hard work and commitment throughout this past year. To say that I am incredibly proud to be working alongside such a skilled, dedicated, and creative team is an understatement. I know we will continue to achieve amazing things together.
The shared understanding and appreciation of our mission inspire us to do even more for our campers. We strive to make transforming the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs part of the cultural fabric of Camp For All. To this end, it is important that we not only recognize what we do each day, but also why we work for the benefit of our campers – all while fulfilling our promise that “can do” happens here.
Expressing our Gratitude
On behalf of everyone at Camp For All, I would like to thank our campers, families, Partners, volunteers, and especially our donors for your trust and confidence in us. We will work hard as a team to exceed your expectations in 2025.
Warmest regards,
Pat Prior Sorrells President and CEO
