JIM GRAHAM

IRELAND

AESTHETIC BLACK AND WHITE Jim is 64 years of age and retired. Photography has been a passion of his for around 25 years. Jim has dabbled in many different aspects of the photographic medium, namely Landscape, Portrait, Macro, Studio work and strobist off camera flash. These days his interest mainly centers on Black and White Landscape, Seascape, and Architectural photography. Jim enjoys the challenge of stripping away colour to leave only tone and form. Creating an image, which works on an artistic as well as an aesthetic, level without relying on colour is what gives Jim the most pleasure these days. His aim is to create an image, which, while based on the scene before him, is at least in some sense, displaced from reality. Jim usually has a pre-envisioned concept in mind before visiting a scene. All but a few of his images are created using the long exposure technique. After many years of editing colour images in Photoshop, Jim realised that the skills he had developed in that medium, would merely serve as a basis for editing his new monochromatic work. His recent images, and indeed, the techniques used to create them, have been greatly influenced by Joel Tjintjelaar and Julia Anna Gospodarou. Their joint publication, "From Basics to Fine Art have been the driving force behind most of Jim's recent photography.

Camerapixo Press Card gives me confidence in crisis situations, such as demonstrations and riots, where I often have to deal with the police and a hostile crowd of people. Knowing that I'm not an anonymous photographer but member of the Camerapixo gives me motivation to work better and with continuous improvement. It is also a commitment to follow the photojournalist Code of Ethics. And this way, thanks to Camerapixo Press Card I began to act like a pro, and I am also treated this way, while remaining independent photojournalist. This Press Card is a proven tool. The perfect complement is also the ability to publish the photoreportage in Camerapixo photography magazine as well as on their website.
