Wiyabu!

Welcome to term four at Camden Haven Community College. I must be getting older as the year seems to have flown by. This year, we've seen an increase in enrolments as you seek new opportunities, explore career advancements, and foster connections within your community.

This term promises to be just as dynamic, with the start of new vocational courses and a variety of engaging lifestyle classes. Firm favourites will continue with our Tech Savvy Seniors and Write Your Story sure to be big hits. There’ll be some new offerings for Laurieton and Taree. Last term cryptic crosswords was a hit in Laurieton and this term it comes to Taree. For all the aspiring cruciverbalists, best of luck!

Guitar lessons will be returning to Laurieton this term, and we’re eager to extend this opportunity to Taree. If you’re a guitar teacher in the Manning Valley, we’d love to hear from you.

You may notice a slight increase in the price of some courses. While we remain dedicated to making the College accessible to everyone, this adjustment helps us cover operational costs.

We’re excited to offer a special new course this term: "Live Life Pain Free" with Leo Silva. This program could be a valuable resource for those living with chronic pain, so don’t miss out on this opportunity.

We thrive on introducing new courses, embracing the energy of our participants, and learning from the diverse talents within our community. We’re delighted to have you with us for Term Four.

Enjoy all that we have to offer!

On the Front Cover

Some of us are lucky to work with wonderful people. People who mentor, support and inspire. People who bring energy and ideas, taking great joy in their role and the difference they can make. As Veronica steps back from her role at the College as Training

Manager, it is an opportunity to reflect on her contribution to vocational education and training and to our college specifically. It’s also a time to welcome Noni who is transitioning into the role, already looking to the future with a commitment to education in our community and the industries we serve.

Veronica has been the Training Manager with our College since 2018. She has seen hundreds of students reach their potential and go on to enjoy rewarding careers. She has supported our talented trainers, tirelessly engaged with the aged and disability sector and taught many of us most of what we know. Her association with the college dates back to 2013 as a trainer. She has been training students in her chosen industry since 2006 and has enjoyed a lifetime working in aged care.

Over recent months, Veronica has been sharing her knowledge and wisdom with Noni, demonstrating all the skills that have made her an excellent trainer – patience, adaptability, generosity and a commitment to sharing knowledge. Noni comes to us from a background in disability services management. Herself a trainer, she knows what students need to excel and is committed to maintaining an environment that encourages all to succeed.

Noni has volunteered with the College on our management committee, demonstrating a passion for the College and our mission. Nobody could be better placed to continue Veronica’s exceptional work and the values of the College.

We all wish Veronica the very best for her retirement and thank her for her contribution. We welcome Noni into the new role, knowing she shares Veronica’s passion and will continue to carry the baton for VET in our communities.
