Begin (or continue!) your printmaking practice in this online class. This class will be divided into 3 parts, each led by a different instructor, and will explore different printmaking techniques including relief printmaking, monotype printing, and more. Using demonstrations, inspiring examples, and other resources, we will practice our skills and share our work in a relaxed and creative atmosphere. No previous art experience required, only a curiosity about printmaking. Each term, techniques will be introduced and expanded on. In this workshop, we will explore the portrait in the inspirational medium of watercolor. We will discuss how to approach the portrait, proportions and structure of the head. The instructor, Bryan Ramey, will explain how he approaches watercolor by breaking down color choices, compositions, and values of light/shadow in order to construct a solid foundation for the painting. The instructor will demonstrate how to put a portrait together from start to finish using both realistic and abstract techniques. We will finish the day with everyone working through a portrait from planning to completion. Basic watercolor experience is recommended but not required.
