Spring/summer campaign kicks off Digital update

SPRING 2017

A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear fellow traders and professionals, It has been a good couple of months for the precinct, with DIDO a huge success earlier last month. Final touches have been completed on the new Camberwell Central building and our vacancy rate is down to 7%. The western car park redevelopment dragged on longer than expected however, it now looks really great and is safer for pedestrians. For traders, the impact of Chadstone’s extensions is levelling out.

With the major Station St and western car park completed, we should see things settle down a bit. There is still going to be some disruption at The Well shopping centre, with a complete overhaul of the toilets commencing soon, followed by a renovation on level one. More details on this to follow. Regards,

Henk Kelly-Kobes President, Camberwell Centre Association

MARKETING ACTIVITY SNAPSHOT It’s been another busy quarter for the Camberwell shopping precinct, with plenty of promotions and activities taking place over winter. Our biggest promotion of the year, Dine In Dine Out, took place on August 5. The annual food event was a great success and we experienced record visitors to Camberwell for the day filled with food, fun activities and entertainment. We continued to celebrate food and dining throughout August by promoting this category across our digital channels with food-related articles and social media posts. It was supported by a competition that gave entrants the chance to win a $500 feast in Camberwell – all they had to do was tell us about a food experience they’d had in Camberwell. For our Father’s Day promotion, we ran a competition that asked entrants to share their dad’s daggiest moment for the chance to win a $200 Camberwell shopping voucher. This was further supported by a feature article and gift guide published to our website and shared across our social media platforms.

DINE PINK AND HELP FIGHT BREAST CANCER Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) is inviting restaurants and cafes to participate in the Dine Pink campaign this October, as part of breast cancer awareness month. Host venues may choose to support Dine Pink for a day, a week or the entire month of October. Participating is easy – simply select to offer a Dine Pink dish, Dine Pink drink, a dedicated Dine Pink table or event in support of BCNA. Each venue can choose how much they donate from each activation, i.e. 10% of proceeds, $1 per drink or even a $2 opt out surcharge on each patron’s bill in support of Australians affected by breast cancer. BCNA have endeavoured to make Dine Pink as flexible as possible for you to choose how you will support the cause and how the proceeds will be allocated. There are Dine Pink aprons, pink take-away coffee lids available for venues to purchase and a free support kit of promotional material for registered venues. We will be promoting our traders who get on board, so let us know if you register. Register online: dinepink.gofundraise.com.au/cms/register More details: www.dinepink.com.au

Dine In Dine Out 2017 event highlights Camberwell’s fifth instalment of the Dine In Dine Out food fiesta offered visitors a packed program of activities and drew a record crowd. The winter food and wine event took place on Saturday, August 5 where Camberwell traders put on a lively day of food demonstrations, tastings, entertainment and fun family activities. This year there were three pop-up spaces for the event – the Pop-Up Park in Evans Place, the Marketplace Park in the carpark near the Camberwell Fresh Food Market and Aerial Walk, located underneath the Aerial Building in the junction. Camberwell Centre Association Manager Kerry Daly said the 2017 Dine In Dine Out event attracted a record number of visitors and was positively received. “Our program was jam-packed, with two busy pop-up parks, fire truck rides, roving entertainers, children’s activities, live music performances and a great selection of food from many of our local traders. Camberwell was a bustling hub of activity and there was a great atmosphere,” she said. Traders reported increased foot traffic, busier trade and a boost in sales on the event day and over the promotional period. Traders who held in-store offers on the event day and over the promotional period, in conjunction with broader Dine In Dine Out marketing, reported a good up take of specials. SPRING/SUMMER 2017 CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF For spring, we are again running our popular Style Junction Spring Lookbook competition. Entrants have to tell us which ‘look’ from the Style Junction lookbook was their favourite for a chance to win a $1000 shopping spree in Camberwell. To encourage extra entries, people who spend more than $25 in any Camberwell fashion, beauty or accessories store can upload a copy of their receipt with their entry. Be sure to send images of your new season looks to info@camberwellca.com.au to make sure they are added to the lookbook on the Style Junction website.

DIGITAL UPDATE The Camberwell Shopping audience continues to grow, with increased users across our website, social media platforms and email database.

We experienced record traffic to the Dine In Dine Out website, with more than 8,000 visits throughout the event period, including 1,756 visits on the event day.

Digital activity remains a key low-cost marketing activity in our mix and continues to yield excellent results for the shopping precinct.

Remember, keep sending us your offers and specials to share to the Camberwell Shopping website. Email your offers to info@camberwellshopping.com.au

The Camberwell Shopping website continues to thrive, with hundreds of enquires from customers submitted via contact forms direct to traders through the site each year. It also offers traders without their own websites a strong online presence as the individual shop pages act as a detailed website and includes information about the business, its trading hours and links to social media and other channels. Over the past quarter, 70 per cent of visitors to our websites have been female, and almost 60 per cent of visitors came to our websites via mobile or tablet devices.

AT A GLANCE ✓✓ More than 4,800 email addresses in our subscriber database ✓✓ More than 134,000 visits to the websites over the past year ✓✓ More than 5,600 followers across social media
