Welcome to our Davinci Day

Welcome to our Davinci Day
We respectfully acknowledge that the Calgary French & International School sits on Treaty 7 territory, and that the people of the Blackfoot Confederacy — including the Siksiká Nation, Piikáni Nation, Káinai
Nation, Tsuut’ina Nation, and Iethka (Ee-iith-ka)
Stoney Nakoda Nation including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Good Stoney, and Otipemisiwak
(Oh-tay-pem-soo-wak) Métis people from Elbow Métis
District 6, were the caretakers of the land where we now learn and play.
CFIS is situated on Aiss ka pooma in Moh’kinstsis (Moh-gihn-tss-is). As active citizens, we share an ongoing responsibility to protect our land and understand our collective history. While deepening your knowledge of its significance, we encourage you to take action in safeguarding the land you live on. We thank our traditional caretakers and knowledge keepers.
Our Mission Statement;
The EDIA student committee, strives to create a respectful community, dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
We deeply value the unique identities and opinions of every community member, while striving to ensure everyone feels accepted, supported, and has a true sense of belonging, regardless of belief and opinion. We strive to embrace multiple perspectives and opinions, regardless of stance, while being professional and mutually respectful.
We constantly seek to find ways to solves problems occurring in the school setting, through the means of generative discussion with administration and direct learning. Everyone is valid in their own respects and you can never critique or deny the identity of someone else, for you have not lived within their shoes.
Everyone will always be accepted to join EDIA and participate in discussion. We encourage opposition and believe it is crucial towards change.
