Meet loveably adaptable SpongeBob, (Katie K.) and goofball optimist Patrick (Nicholas D.), who lives under a rock in every sense of the word, as another beautiful Bikini Bottom Day dawns…
“BFFThat stands for Us!”
“I love getting to form new relationships with so many people with the same passion as me. And I also just love getting to do something so big and having so much fun being part of it!” - Zian
Meanwhile, all of Bikini Bottom’s other Colourful Cast of Characters are caught up in their own concerns, from Fast Food Domination to Dreams of taking Centre stage…

A dark shadow is cast over the Bright Bikini Bottom Day… …and we’re not just talking about the threat of active volcano, Mount Humongous!
When the threat is from within, things escalate to Code Orange - even if that does mean changing the bulb.
“Everybody knows, you can always trust the Government…”
So of course, the question on everybody’s mind is…who can we blame for all this?
The Government, the Media, - or Sandy the Squirrel and her suspicious science?

“As a new student at CFIS, working on the musical this year got me to experience something I never had before and make some new friends.. I really enjoyed it!” - Sarah
Sometimes it’s easier to just be an outlaw,
…but that doesn’t stop our feelings from getting hurt.
“Pirates are People Too!”
To everyone’s relief, too-young-tovote teenagers take charge in efforts to fund the exodus. And this means a benefit concert featuring Pearl’s beloved boy band, The Electric Skates.
“The Only time I Give Money is when a celebrity asks”
Can Squidward keep up with all their Diva demands? Will he get his moment on Centre Stage after all? Will his incessant migraine be cured once and for all by loud rock music?

Ahoy! What a voyage it has been! The hard work and passion that students have are what keeps us going when we feel we don’t have any more energy! And then they - the kids- inspire us! They show kindness, empathy, leadership , and creativity -and through the unique bond that the musical theatre program provides- they support each other and shine! It is in these moments that you realise how much about life and human interaction we learn through theatre! This show has so many beautiful messages, the most important one being - you are special, so be happy being you. I am proud to be part of this project and happy to be able to work with a team of old and new friends. The grade twelves in this production started their musical theatre adventure with us in grade seven; however, I had taught them back when they were in grade four! Therefore, the growth and progress of this particular group has been close to my heart. I am so excited to share the accomplishments of our students and the heart-warming message of the show! Sit back and enjoy the “incredible, exceptional, and extraordinary,” Bikini Bottom world!
Critics welcomed SpongeBob: The Musical as “a chaotic mess, and we’re here for it” and why not, with such a powerful song-writing team? The directors too embraced the chaos as we gave students free reign on Musical choice, poster design, prop procurement, and set design like never before. In line with the new-adopted MYP ethos of inquiry, where instructors are not so much the “Sage on the Stage” as the “Guide on the side”, we could sometimes be found cowering in the wings, misremembering character and song names, and confusing jellyfish for sardines for anemones, (which we can’t pronounce anyway). Amidst the chaos, I am indebted to the patience of the Costume Moms who have brought an extra dimension to these cartoon characters, and to our phenomenal art instructors who did the same with the scenery. Special thanks go to Christian, Lisa, Nic & of course Syl, who make up the brains and brawn of the operation, and, like SpongeBob, while I’m not sure what I bring to the table, I’m so happy to be there too!
kids care so much about this project, and it’s so amazing to watch them improve over the years both in terms of their skills and their confidence. Sometimes, as I am playing piano and singing along with the kids as we are learning, I find myself in true moments of happiness. This year, we have changed things up a bit and rather than me directing the orchestra, you will find me in the orchestra pit playing the drums during our performances, An unexpected, but welcomed
