We met with Dr. Baker and asked her a few questions about the different procedures that she uses in her practice and their importance.

WHY IS ORAL CANCER SCREENING IMPORTANT? Oral cancer screening is a very important part of the dental visit for a patient. With the advances in modern technology, we are now

able to pinpoint the start of a potential problem much earlier than before. The ability to do this is extremely important. We are also able to address any issue prior to it becoming a major, irreversible problem that may become life threatening. Through the process of multi-spectral fluorescence, this technology can dramatically improve our ability to recognize oral cancer and save lives. Annual oral cancer screenings are very important for everyone, especially if you are a smoker or a heavy drinker, so please make sure to get regular screenings when you visit your dentist.

WHAT TYPES OF LASER DENTISTRY DO YOU PROVIDE? At Calabasas Dental Spa, we use the most advanced lasers in dentistry, and we are pleased to offer this state of the art technology to our patients. Laser dentistry allows us to treat many dental conditions in a minimally invasive way. Some of the most common procedures we use are gum treatments and restorations (fillings). The non-Invasive laser gum treatment, called LANAP, can save teeth and actually regrows bone and reverses bone loss. The laser energy not only eliminates the harmful bacteria associated with gum disease, but it also has the added benefits of laser biostimulation, which allows for faster healing of the gums.
