Curatorial brief
Circular design is helping to create new products, turning forever existing waste as non biodegrad able material into good quality and long-lasting consciously designed objects.
Inspired by Robinson Jeffer’s poem about life after humans, this exhibition highlights humanity’s problem of over consumption towards single use plastic. It questions the role we have within the natural world, as each artwork serves as a re minder of our ability to adapt and use the resourc es that are available to us by repurposing them into meaningful objects.
Bringing together two artists from different disci plines, they each reconstruct existing materials and transform waste into something beautifulleaving the world as it were, if not better, after our time.
Yesterday morning enormous the moon hung low on the ocean, Round and yellow-rose in the glow of dawn; The night-herons flapping home wore dawn on their wings. Today Black is the ocean, black and sulphur the sky, And white seas leap. I honestly do not know which day is more beautiful. I know that tomorrow or next year or in twenty years I shall not see these things — and it does not matter, it does not hurt; They will be here. And when the whole human race Has been like me rubbed out, they will still be here: storms, moon and ocean, Dawn and the birds. And I say this: their beauty has more meaning Than the whole human race and the race of birds.
BEAUTY HAS MORE MEANINGPoem by Robinson Jeffers

Responding to the theme of life after humans, this installation work re-imagines a world after our time when our momentum has passed. It is an artefact that marks our return to the power of our destinies, reminding us of the choices we make and acts as an imaginative space to enlighten our awareness of natural catastrophes. By referencing history and showing the ruins of our past, it considers the ways we can respond and create a better trajectory for our future - prompting the viewer to begin change within themselves.
We have made a commitment to our environment
AORA is a solution-oriented company focused on making textile and furniture using recycled plastic waste scattered in the oceans, rivers, and land scapes. Sculpturing new life from existing materials, they create fresh curiosity and awareness around the sustainable interiors of tomorrow. AORA drives innovation in design and craft to help accelerate the transition towards a circular future.
The journey starts by collecting plastic waste, where it gets cleaned and resized into small particles that turn into plastic pellets. Once they are produced, we melt them into recycled yard that would be used to manufacture the recycled fabric collection and upholstered furniture. This whole process and our products are certified by a worldwide institution such as GRS (Global Recycled Standard) and Oeko-Tex Standard.
Technology and craftsmanship allow AORA to continue to innovate and achieve quality, as each piece of furniture is designed to be timeless and kept in your homes for the next decades.
Working closely with interior designers and archi tects, as well as professionals who understand the importance of harmonising with nature, our mission is to find solutions in waste management for the good of our planet and its people.
Our production process
1
It begins by cleaning the environment through the collection of plastic waste in rivers, the ocean and landscape.
2
The collected plastic is cleaned, resized into tiny particles and selected by quality and class.
3
The PET particles are selected, taken to the yarn mill and compounded into plastic pellets.
4
The plastic pellets are melted and converted into the recycled yarn we use to produce our collection.
