Introduction Maria Rosa, code name Mother, known as the Mother of the Partisans; Caterina, her daughter, code name Lenia: two female protagonists in Caile. In a town centre, in the Italian Alps, were the Headquarters of the German armies in Italy, headed by General Field Marshal Albert Kesselring; just above, in the forest, was their house, the Headquarters of the Resistance. In the last part of the war, they were wanted by the Nazis and the Fascists. They often had a narrow escape. Here are a few certificates awarded to them.
Certificate of Freedom Fighter On behalf of the governments and peoples of the United Nations, we thank Marchi Rina for having engaged the enemy on the battlefield as a member of the group of freedom fighters who took up arms in the cause of freedom, carrying out attacks and sabotages, and providing military intelligence.
