1885 HOSPITAL NACIONAL DE CLÍNICAS - CÓRDOBA La Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de Córdoba comenzó a funcionar en 1878. Pocos años después, sobre un terreno cedido por el intendente de la ciudad, Juan Manuel de la Serna, se inició la construcción de este hospital. Cuando se inauguró tenía capacidad para 282 enfermos, y aulas para 621 estudiantes de las carreras de Medicina, Obstetricia y Farmacia. Junto con el Hospital General San Martín de Buenos Aires, son los únicos Hospitales universitarios y fueron diseñados para cumplir esa función. Construido por el ingeniero Francisco Tamburini, integra la declaratoria de monumento histórico en los sectores de: Pabellón Central, Pabellón de Especialidades, Cirugía, Internación, Chimenea, Aula Menor, Pabellón del Cáncer, Depósito, Cocina, Capilla, Aula Mayor, Pabellón de Anatomía, Cátedra de Farmacología, Servicios Generales y Anatomía Patológica. Esta institución, de importante tradición médica y docente, le dio su nombre al conocido barrio Clínicas, fuertemente ligado a la historia estudiantil cordobesa.
HOSPITAL NACIONAL DE CLÍNICAS - CÓRDOBA The first School of Medicine in Córdoba opened in 1878. Shortly thereafter, construction on this hospital began on a lot granted by the Mayor of the city, Juan Manuel de la Serna. At the time of its opening, it had capacity of 282 inpatients, and classroom space for 621 students in the departments of medicine, obstetrics and pharmacology. This institution and San Martín General Hospital in Buenos Aires are the only hospitals in the country designed specifically as teaching hospitals. The following sections of the building, which was constructed by engineer Francisco Tamburini, have been declared historical sites: the Central Pavilion, the Pavilion for Specialties, Surgery, Inpatient Care, the Chimney, Minor Ward, Cancer Pavilion, Storage Area, Kitchen, Chapel, Major Ward, Anatomy Pavilion, Department of Pharmacology, General Care and Pathological Anatomy. Closely associated with the history of students in Cordoba, the neighborhood surrounding this important medical and teaching institution gets its name, Clinicas, from the hospital.
