Conner expressed enthusiasm about the new homes market, which he says shows signs of returning. “We are starting to see more and more interest in new construction, which is good news.” He explained that in the recent past many buyers have been interested in resale homes because they felt they could get a good price. “When they start looking at new construction it means they are not so caught up in getting a deal and more interested in a home which they can personalize,” he continued. Often new homebuyers are those who expect to stay for awhile, Conner said. With this in mind, a new home is appealing because it gives

REALTORS® are an important part of successful new home sales and play a special role in the Parade. In recognition of their importance, this year’s Parade includes a REALTOR® tour, which takes place on two dates, October 2nd when agents will see the homes in Charlottesville and east, and the 4th when they will see those on the west side. On these days the Parade homes will be open exclusively to REALTORS® giving them an opportunity to see what’s new, talk to the builders and get answers to their questions so they can better serve their new home clients. Jim Kuznar, Executive Vice President of the Blue Ridge Homebuilders Association (BRHBA), explained the importance of the REALTOR® tour. “The REALTORS® are very important to the builders who rely on them to bring traffic to their homes. Connecting with REALTORS® is a big reason that builders participate in the Parade,” Kuznar said. He added that he hopes the REALTOR® tour will become an annual tradition. Brad Conner, an agent with Montague Miller and Co., is one of many who are excited about this special tour. “These cutting edge builders

will be showing us new design features, room changes and technology. It’s a great way to get REALTORS® pumped up,” he said. “It is very beneficial for the REALTORS® to see the product since we count on them to sell it,” said Suzie Pace of Pace Real Estate Associates. Pace markets homes for R.L. Beyer Construction, which has two homes in the Parade. “The tour is also a chance for the agents to interact with each other and compare notes about what their clients are asking for,” Pace added.
