AN IMPORTANT SOCIAL EVENT COMPLETELY SLIPPED UNDER MY radar in early January, when the Macquarie Dictionary word or phrase of the year was announced. In case you missed it too, the vote for the most widely used unique term for 2019 was “robodebt”- which is defined as a debt owed to the government by a welfare recipient, arising from an overpayment of benefits, that is automatically chased up by the ATO’s computer.

Unlike 2018, when “MeToo” had been the runaway winner, 2019 was not so cut and dry. There were honorable mentions given to quite a few new and unique words and terminologies: “anecdata” – information which is presented as if it were based on systematic research, but is actually based on personal observation or experience. “big minutes” – a period of time spent by a player on the field or court, during which they maximise their impact, having a substantial effect on the game. “cleanskin” – someone without any tattoos. “flight shaming” – criticism or ridicule directed at someone travelling by air because of the carbon emissions and consequent environmental damage produced by such travel. “healthwashing” – the marketing practice of presenting a food brand or product as being more nutritious or wholesome than it actually is, usually by ignoring or understating the less healthy aspects of the product. This must have been a tough year for the judging panel – like an all dancing, all miming, all feathered Eurovision contest; or a really intense, full flavored, Master Chef sauce-off. If 2020 is to become a scrabble classic and dictionary year to remember, we should really start thinking about the entries now. Here is my mid-year list, to begin the election campaign and pre-polling process: “COVIDSafe” – is an obvious one, and may end up being more than just a government App, but signify a whole new way of living and relating to one-another post 2020; “ISOlatte” – the coffee we make and drink at home; “2SquareDance” – the distance we now keep apart when on the dancefloor; “HomeWork” – no longer just an after-school activity, but a permanent home-office intrusion; “DoonaDebt” – where we hide from all the government expenditure until the cleaner-upperers come along; “Infostructure” – the infrastructure you build when you have run out of money to build anything concrete, so you just create an ongoing dialogue or national conversation. This would be like planning a series of meetings to discuss the road building spending priorities in The Shire – as opposed to filling the potholes! If rampant government spending and electioneering end up leaving us, ipso facto, with ballooning debt, all we can do is follow the regular routine – chill out, wrap ourselves in a doonadebt blanket and sip on a homemade isolatte.

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST

THURSDAY’S FULL MOON IS A SUPER

moon, meaning it looks very big because at this time of the year the Moon is closest to earth. You can watch it rising over the ocean at 5:13 pm. This Full Moon in Scorpio is very unpredictable; the emotional tide is extremely high, but at the same time there is a reluctance to communicate feelings openly. Pent-up energy might leak out in weird and surprising ways. Uranus, the big mover and shaker of the zodiac, has just had a rendezvous with the Sun and opposes the Moon. Be prepared to be stopped in your tracks or have your plans disrupted by a sudden event! If you can stay in the flow of things, interesting and inspiring moments may spark creativity and visionary thinking, thanks to a Mercury/Neptune sextile. Mercury is dominating the scene this week, his motto is – it is all in the mind! He rules the intellect, communication and travel. From Friday to Monday he forms a powerful earth-trine to Pluto and Jupiter. On a world-wide level this will change the restrictions which we currently live under. On a personal level this transit may powerfully and fundamentally transform the way you think and therefore change your world view. In the midst of all this there is a chance to celebrate Mother’s Day with a new consciousness! On Monday Mercury squares Mars which can lead to heated arguments and communication breakdown. Both planets are in fixed signs and are famous for their stubbornness. On Tuesday Mercury moves into Gemini where he resides until the end of this month. He instantly forms an air-trine to Saturn in Aquarius. This is a very positive influence that helps to focus, seize the moment and get a great outcome. On Wednesday Mars, the warrior archetype, moves into Pisces. Until the end of June he traverses this rather introverted, sensitive and imaginative sign. Here he likes to create art and music, meditate or escape into a fantasy world. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

g ARIES

The 2 of Cups symbolises the perfect flow of giving and receiving love. Keeping your heart open is the only prerequisite to enter this precious space. Resentment, reactivity and judgement against yourself and others keep you out in the cold.

h TAURUS

Watch your energy levels this week! With the 8 of Cups drawn you are in danger of getting stuck in emotional swamps, in particular during the Full Moon time, or if it is your birthday this week. Know and honour your needs, then others respect them too. If you feel exhausted, you need to rest and rejuvenate.

i GEMINI

The Prince of Cups offers his gifts and services straight from the heart. With him by your side you feel cared for and supported. You might receive some good news, or romance lights up your days. Accept what is given humbly and graciously, and find ways to share your blessings in as many acts of random kindness as possible.

j CANCER

With the 10 of Swords drawn, your mind may overpower your sensitive heart with many negative and judgemental thoughts. Under this onslaught it is easy to cave in and resort to very old, selfdepreciating patterns, feeling powerless or identifying with victim-consciousness. Your main job this week is being kind to yourself.

BY GISELA

k LEO

The Princess of Disks symbolises the creative force of the goddess. She operates in the unseen, and only when the time is ripe will she assist you to give birth to a new phase of your life. Therefore don’t discredit these slow but highly creative times, and know that you are much closer to manifesting what you want, than you acknowledge.

l VIRGO

The Prince of Swords is a master of analysing the creative-intuitive thought process. With him by your side you are acutely aware of which thoughts are beneficial, nurturing and motivational. Don’t give any space and time to the relentless inner critic or for self-sabotage.

a LIBRA

c SAGITTARIUS

The Lovers Tarot card symbolises the art and craft of relationships. Staying true to yourself, while weaving meaningful relationships, brings you in contact with your deepest desires, fears and hopes. Sometimes you may get caught up in contradictions and paradoxes. This is just another path to enlightenment!

d CAPRICORN

This week the 6 of Disks promises great accomplishment! With your practical know-how and resourcefulness, combined with authenticity, you are living your success-story. Other people are watching you and might ask for your guidance about what kind of commitment is needed for manifestation.

The Strength Tarot card implies renewed passion and zest for life. Maybe you have enjoyed a slow and reduced lifestyle for a while, but now you want action! This strong energy needs to be funnelled into a worthwhile physical/ creative/spiritual pursuit. If you have trouble choosing your direction, start with the stuff that energises you most.

e AQUARIUS

b SCORPIO

f PISCES

The Queen of Cups appreciates the deeper meaning of life and loves to immerse herself in communion with nature. Guided by her, you may find that your search for truth starts and finishes with gutfeeling, listening to your heart and inner guidance. The less you listen to others the more clarity you find.

The Temperance Tarot card suggests avoiding excess, and instead focussing on perfect equilibrium and moderation in all things. The awareness about what you are thinking and what you are mentally engaging with, is the litmustest for the quality of your daily experience. So choose wisely!

The Knight of Swords is decisive, motivated and ambitious to reach his goal as quickly as possible. With him by your side you are singleminded about your mission and you act with certainty. Be cautious around the Full Moon time, don’t rush too much or try to cut corners.

DEAR KEENWA,

I've managed to stay Corona free...so far. Obviously being a vegan helps, but I have another potent remedy I want to share with the citizens of The Shire. Sperm smoothies. Not just anyone's of course - my boyfriend's... and herein lies the problem. After so much time together, we have decided to part ways, which means i'll be missing a vital ingredient to my healthy immune regime. Do you know of anyone who could help a sister out? I'm a mother of two, and seriously worried for our health - Vitamin Se

DEAR VITAMIN SE,

Firstly, semen ain't vegan (and neither is breastfeeding btw), so that's cheating. But here's some fun Covid facts: While operations that keep sperm cryogenically alive have not been deemed essential business during this time, business is booming at semen storage facilities with mailorder iteration “collecting” kits increased by twenty percent, according to two companies.

DEAR KEENWA,

I'm the proud owner of a natural condom company, and the latest victim of this virus scam. To say that sales have gone flaccid since lockdown, is an understatement. The future of our business looks very, very limp. I don't understand. I have worked so hard to eradicate overpopulation for our current environmental distress, why would anyone want to bring a child onto this planet? And P.S what the hell are people doing at home if they not doing it? Contraception Conspiracy

DEAR CONTRACEPTION CONSPIRACY,

Two words for you bro. Banana. Bread. Have you had a go yet? Once you pop that baking gene, you simply cannot stop! Sexperts are predicting that there will be a post-Covid baby boom in 2021 as lockdowns prompt more couples to try to conceive. Probs with a really good chance of gestational diabetes, if they are not using coconut nectar instead of plain sugar (I tried that last week, and failed miserably).

In this approachable guide, Dr. Robert looks to 12 of the great philosophers to provide advice on how to deal with life’s everyday emergencies. Aristotle has a cure for hangovers; Nietzsche says, just do it; Plato has rules for a blind date; Heidegger helps you get over your deceased dog; Epicurus notes how to avoid indigestion; Pascal suggests a way to slow down time.

WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: We’ve all got plenty of time to contemplate our existence, and we’re doing a good job of exposing our frightening list of hang-ups. We NEED this book, now more than ever. This week's recommendation

SINGLE TITLE: Living in a Ghost Town ARTIST: The Rolling Stones RELEASED: April 2020 GENRE: Classic Blues Rock & Roll BIO: They may or may not be the greatest rock &

roll band on the planet, but they surely must be the most experienced! The Rolling Stones formed in 1962, and the original line-up included Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts. Ronnie Wood joined in 1975 and the group have released 30 studio albums, 23 live albums and numerous compilations. Living in a Ghost Town is their first original material since 2012. WHAT TO EXPECT: This single rocketed to #1 on the iTunes charts within days of release. Thoughtful lyrics, Mick at his gravelly best, and guitars, drums, horns and keyboards blending in a reggae beat. Craig Jenkins of Vulture Records described it well – “this track lands in the sweet spot between wistful boomer nostalgia and tacit acknowledgment that the sands of time have shifted”. WHAT WE LIKE: These musos know how to put together a hit, adding lyrics that are spot on for the times – Once this place was humming, And the air was full of drumming The sound of cymbals crashing, Glasses were all smashing Trumpets were all screaming, Saxophones were blaring Nobody was caring if it's day or night STANDOUT TRACK: The song had been written last year as part of a new studio album, but Jagger and Richards thought that with some adjusted lyrics, it was perfectly suited to an early release. Darryl Jones plays bass guitar, as he has done in support for many years, and Matt Clifford adds keyboards, horns and sax, for a full rounded sound. PERFECT FOR: This is not a happy, dance track or a perfect lament, but it may well become an anthem for life during the coronavirus pandemic.
