A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the THE GOSS-MICHAEL FOUNDATION in Dallas. A selection of the rugs will be on display in Dallas at The Goss-Michael Foundation from Wednesday, November 13 until Monday, November 25. The auction will take place online at www.Paddle8.com beginning on Monday, November 11 with the auction concluding on Monday, November 25. The rugs range in value from USD$10,000 to USD$25,000. Since its founding by George Michael and Kenny Goss in 2007, the non-profit Foundation has grown into one of the most highly respected arts organizations in The United States and remains dedicated to contributing to Dallasâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; thriving artistic and non-profit communities.

The Goss-Michael Foundation supports artists at multiple points in their careers, through student scholarships, emerging artist grants, and artist in residency program and worldclass exhibitions. In addition, the Foundation presents and organizes the annual MTV RE:DEFINE Art Auction Gala in partnership with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. Since 2011, MTV RE:DEFINE has been recognized as a premiere exhibition and auction in Dallas, TX, raising over $14 million to date. This has been made possible thanks to contributions from many of the world’s leading artists. The Goss-Michael Foundation has mounted exhibitions with artists that include Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas, Marc Quinn, Linder, Jim Lambie and Jwan Yosef, among many others. Over the years, The Goss-Michael Found has worked closely with contemporary artists across disciplines to help support their mission. It is in this spirit, and to further bring to light the Foundation’s work, that HENZEL STUDIO is thrilled to be able to support the organization by donating a portion of the proceeds from this PADDLE8 auction of the Studio’s groundbreaking and unprecedented collections of handmade artist-designed carpets. “The Goss-Michael Foundation has celebrated, collected and supported so many of the artists who have contributed their work to Henzel Studio. Since the launch of HENZEL STUDIO COLLABORATIONS at BARNEYS NEW YORK Madison Avenue in 2014 during Frieze Art Fair, Henzel Studio has developed art rugs with over thirty contemporary artists including RICHARD PRINCE, HELMUT LANG, JACK PIERSON, NAN GOLDIN, SCOTT CAMPBELL, RICHARD PHILLIPS, MARILYN MINTER, MICKALENE THOMAS, AND ANSELM REYLE. Via HENZEL STUDIO HERITAGE, extensive collections have also been developed in collaboration with artist estates, that to date include ANDY WARHOL FOUNDATION FOR THE VISUAL ARTS and TOM OF FINLAND FOUNDATION. The auction will mark the unveiling of new carpets designed by SUE WEBSTER AND TIM NOBLE, MARILYN MINTER, JWAN YOSEF, ASHLEY BICKERTON, CARSTEN HÖLLER and TONY OURSLER. Free to disregard design movements and related principles and rules, the featured artists were invited to freely and seamlessly translate their work and artistic ethos into the media at hand, exploring shape, volume, and finishing, where practicality was secondary to concept. This creative brief allows all artists to embrace the outcome as part of their body of work. “Art rugs have been around for quite some time in various forms, and some of the most prominent artists including Francis Bacon, Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Robert Indiana, Mike Kelley, Ellsworth Kelly, Fernand Leger, Roy Lichtenstein, Henri Matisse, Joan Miro, and Pablo Picasso have all turned to the media at some point in their oeuvre. However, rather than look back, we’re looking to encapsulate facets of contemporary art and work with a curated group of artists that simultaneously express their ethos within a broad yet defined scope.
