Narrative Essay I step my foot into public school for the first time ever my freshman year, not knowing a single person other than my brother. Prior to my freshman year, I was homeschooled. The school feels really big at the time and it's very overwhelming. As I walk around I see people hugging, reuniting, and saying, "oh my gosh I have missed you!" All I am worrying about is what people are thinking of me like, does she have any friends, or she looks like a loner. I am getting nervous and more nervous every second that passes. I decide I need to go straight to my classroom, but I have no idea where to go. I finally make my way to my classroom, then I sit down, and the bell rings. "The day is just beginning," I think to myself....show more content...
I am halfway through the day. After this long day it's still not over yet, I am just half way through the day going into 5th period. As I walked in I see a girl I already met and I wanted to run and give her a hug, I was so excited to see someone I already knew. I didn't have to worry where I was going to sit that period, or who I was going to talk to. I probably looked like the happiest person in the world with a big smile on my face. As I am smiling as I say, "hello, Claire right?" She says, "Yes!" We sit together, exchange social media usernames, and numbers. Later, I go to 6th period, my science class. When we come in the teacher says to talk with people to sit in alphabetical order. I am placed next to a kid named Dominic Thomas, and his buddy is sitting on the other side of me. They were acting like I didn't exist, and getting in my personal space. Later, the teacher says, "The person sitting at your table will be your lab partner." That's when I found out Dominic Thomas will be my lab partner for the quarter. I did not know what was coming for me. Finally, 7th period here I come. Now this class was one crazy class, with some crazy people, but it was all good because I get to leave after this period. The bell rings and I am out of there. Leaving school I am feeling many emotions, I am happy to leave, excited to tell my mom about all I experienced that day,

As times goes on you, realize life isn't all it seems to be. You learn life lessons and certain life events teach you things that can lead to you improving yourself as a person. As you realize most things in life are provided to you, you never truly realize how much everything can mean. As teenagers most of us are immature and do not realize how easy it is for us to lose everything we have. As we could lose everything and anything in a matter of seconds if we are not careful.
It was another typical Monday morning, I had that same feeling I always do when I wake up, dreadly having to get up, use the bathroom, and brush my teeth and get ready for school. It is the same process throughout the whole week until Friday....show more content... The next week was a breeze and it comes down to the night before I had already packed all my stuff that night I was told of the trip. Next morning I woke up bright and early ate breakfast and we headed to the airport. The next few hours were mostly just traveling typical airplane food, only thing that was interesting about the travel was the fact that during one of flights I was sat beside a drunk idiot and then got moved up a few seats and got 3 seats all to myself! When we finally landed in Pakistan it did not look anything different than in Canada. I thought "oh well maybe it looks the same, and is the same" because personally I didn't know much about this place other than the fact I had family here. When we got all our stuff and headed out in a car I noticed nothing different but that might have been due to the fact I was kind of fatigued and the fact we were in a bigger city. On the travel to my cousins I fell asleep, and didn't get woken up until we reached their house. When I got out of the car I was too tired and was way to jetlagged to realize how different things were so I went straight into the house and went back to bed.
I mostly slept for the whole first day. As I woke up by my family, they invited me to go out and try out some of the local foods as everything here was very fresh down to Get more content

Me Myself and Personality Traits When asked to describe myself I never know what to say, but I should know myself the best, right? I like to look at myself as a genuine, thoughtful young lady. I'm a hard worker; I believe nothing is ever handed to you so you have to go get it. I worked hard to get to this point of my life and working even harder to get to the successful and graduate part of my life. I care more for some others than I do myself but I have a huge nonchalant attitude. I don't really show anger or sadness much I always smile because I'm optimistic about life. I look at life as if something bad comes along, no need to dwell on it you can't take it back so just move–on and improve what you did wrong if it's possible....show more content...
I was taught to be caring and thoughtful; I wasn't taught anything else from anyone other than not to trust people. I'm the odd ball of my family because I am nothing like anyone. I can say I was also taught to believe in myself and never down myself because I can accomplish anything. That is shown through my determination and hard work because if I didn't believe in myself I wouldn't try as hard. Last but not all, Humanistic approach sums up my personality a little more than psychodynamic does because it involves nature vs. nurture and that kind of sums it up just saying that. Environment and Heredity is kind of the main reasons of my attitudes and actions. In the article, Time–Limited Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Briggs conducts different forms of psychotherapy techniques to prove whether things in an adolescent's life effect different adolescents differently. His study was a success and proved that many adolescents have different interpretations on the same issue. He read them off different problems and wanted to see how they would interpret them. He used children in the age groups of 12–17 and it worked out. I think that the different approaches can be brought together in some circumstances but in my case it doesn't. My personality makes more sense coming from the humanistic approach. Briggs, Stephen (2010). Time–Limited Psychodynamic Psychotherapy for Adolescents and Young Adults. Essay on Me Myself and Personality Traits
This year I have learned many things about myself. I have realized that everything is not given to you. The harder you work the better your grades will be. Also you must always make sure you check your grades and turn everything in. This year learned it is best to do everything by yourself and to not rely on others. I have noticed myself evolve into a responsible young adult. Also, my patience has improved tremendously. All of these changes have been good and helped me to become a better

Personal Narrative – Rough Draft
The lake glistened before me as my mom and I pulled into Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp just outside Twin Lakes Michigan. I had been accepted into the International Youth SymphonyOrchestra program where after spending a week at the camp the entire orchestra would be heading off on a six week European Tour to share our musical talents and American culture with another part of the world. I knew traveling to a different continent would give me further insight as to who I was a person, but did not imagine the people I would meet would impact me as much as they did.
His name was Alex Peabody, a 16 year old junior from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Although we weren't best friends, we were still close with one another throughout the tour. He had messy brown hair that framed his round face and always wore a big flashy smile. One of my favorite moments with him was while we were waiting to board the bus to go the the airport. While we sat waiting, I was practicing my flute in preparation for our first concert in France. Many of the other students were practicing, talking, giggling, or sharing newly found favorite songs with their friends. The noise was deafening and created a carnival of sound that grew louder with each passing minute. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Alex, a cello player, watching me practice, his eyes bright with fascination. "Alex, do you know how to play flute?" I called to

Croatia. Summer 2015. I am sitting in the back of a stranger's car on the way to a cemetery. A small girl in a yellow tutu reaches into her white sparkly purse on the seat between us and pulls out a seemingly endless group of bobble head pets. We do not speak each other's language so we communicate through hand signals while she tries to teach me the alphabet in Croatian. She laughs at my funny pronunciation, and I smile at her enthusiasm for spelling every passing sign. Despite originally being in Croatia to participate in a conference in Zagreb, this weekend I was traveling through Eastern Croatia with a scholar, who through the examination of grave markers from the Yugoslav Wars of Dissolution asks a question people have been...show more content...
Murrow's broadcasts from London came my interest in journalism; from Abraham Lincoln's oratory, a desire to understand speechwriting; from John Colville's The Fringes of Power: 10 Downing Street Diaries a love of European Politics, and from my grandfather's piles of yellow legal pads that contained the words of his manuscripts, a passion for scholarship. While at the University of Tennessee I have sought to take these incomplete stories and worked to fill the gaps in a journey which has lead me to stand on the stairs of St. Martin in the Fields, to engage with scholars in Eastern Europe, to study British Politics in the UK, to stand beneath the water tower in Vukovar, and to work with the handwritten copies of speeches of Tennessee Congressmen. As an individual who entered college plagued by shyness that had dominated much of my high school career, it was also these experiences that helped me to develop a voice. It has been through my research as a Baker Scholar seeking to understand the impediments to media reform in the Balkans, that I have come to value my own

I have encountered many of my peers taking drugs, listened to songs about drugs and even seen drugs romanticized on social media. Like most teenagers, I lived in a world surrounded by drugs, but I had never had an experience with them. I came from a "picture–perfect" family and prior to my freshman year of high school, I was somewhat narcissistic, believing that I was too good to even be associated with drugs. It was August 2012, the summer before my freshman year of high school, and my life seemed as sound as ever. I was excited to begin the next step in my life and looked forward to starting school. As the weeks passed and I was returning to my normal academic routine, my parents began acting strangely uneasy. I knew there was something wrong. I used to fear the discovery of my brother's problem would distort others' perceptions of me, now; I am no longer restrained by what is regarded of me. This weeks' review is all about revisions, both large scale and small scale revisions to help us complete our final essay, the home stretch in this course. I have revised my essay at least ten times over the past few weeks. Being a professional for the past 20+ years summarizing what is said in something more than a bullet point or short email has proven to be difficult. What was I trying to communicate in my earlier versions is very close to where I am today but the route I am taking to get to this conclusions is much different thank I had anticipated . Image nine resonates with me because it represents women "taking a seat at the table" in business and I believe more women need to be at the table. The photograph showing a woman in the back row reminds me of a theme from Sheryl Sandberg's book, Lean In, where she urges women to take a seat at the table versus sitting on the side of the room. After graduating from Smith College, where I was empowered by intellectually curious and ambitious women, and then transitioning to banking, a male–dominated industry, I recognized early in my career how few women there were in executive roles. As a career driven woman I became inspired to change the status quo and promote the career advancement of women. In my professional career, I have taken several...show more content...

After gaining approval and funding from human resources, our founding committee secured Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to speak at the launch event. The launch for our group was so popular that we had to a find a new venue to accommodate the 100+ employees who wanted to attend. Next, we obtained the bank's chief technology officer as our executive sponsor, the only female executive. After the launch, I went on to lead programming, which included organizing "Lean In" circles for women at varying levels, a roundtable chat with our president & CEO, and lunch & learns with our chief technology officer. I was born and raised in Canton Ohio. I had a lot of trouble focusing on my classes when I went to school. I had six brothers and sisters and we were from a low income family. I stayed with a Mormon family at first and I went to church with them. I couldn't agree with there beliefs. One of my strong points is that I have always had a deep sense of God, I have always prayed a lot. Once I was able to get a job, I ended up with a Mormon roommate. She was really hard to live with. She never seem to smile and she seem to look down on me so that didn't last long. I got to the point where I got a second job just to stay away from her. A Page 2 homeless man gave me a puppy while I lived with her and when she decided to go back home she took my puppy with her. I was so hurt. I have always had a pet, my whole life. When she went home I got another apartment and later another roommate. This one was raised Mormon but didn't live it. For some reason that kind of helped our relationship and we got along pretty well. Later I meant my son's Father, and I started to get my act together. Tyler Douglas Professor Thamm Eng 101–10:00 a.m. Due: Sep. 29, 2008 Essay #1 Narrative A major role in my life would definitely be sports. It is almost as if I look up to sports because I could not live without them. Sports pretty much define me as me. I love to play sports as well as watch all kinds of sports on T.V. and if I could ever go to a game and watch the players play live I would be thrilled. Basically sports define me because I am ambitious, I finish what I start, I set goals for myself, and I am a fierce competitor in which I love to win and I hate to lose. With the game tied 6–6 that is when I went into my own little zone and was in my moment. The crowed was electrified and cheering us on. I thought about all the hard work the coaches put us through doing two a days and keeping us late after a hard practice, spending all of that time and hard work just for this one little moment when the game was on the line. Back to reality our quarterback had started the play and it looked like it was going nowhere and we might have to got into overtime. Then after about 6 crazy seconds he threw the ball to our halfback and he broke a couple tackles and the somehow stretched across the goal line by about 2 inches and we had taken the lead 8–6 with 52 seconds to go. When the game clock hit 00:00 for the first time in our schools history the football team had beaten Aberdeen and none of us could believe it. This was a special moment. Now, it was in this moment when I had realized that sports define me as me because we never gave up, none of us wanted to lose, we set a goal and completed it, but most important we kept our eye on the prize and came through in the moment when the game was on the line. Nobody is going to remember how many games we won or who the best player on the team was that season, but I guarantee what people will remember is when we had beaten Aberdeen for the first time in school

I find it extremely tough to talk about myself and my personal traits. Her family communicates to one another using spanish or sometimes english. I have always grown up in a family that speaks only english so I find it interesting to go over to other people's houses and hear them communicating in another language. On top of all of this meeting different people has also opened my mind to new ideas. For example, in school when we work in group projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them. Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic circumstances. I have always had access to anything I needed and for that I have extreme gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a family with such good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities. One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I did taekwondo until I reached a blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other competitors and break boards in order to continue to move up to the next level. Taekwondo also helped keep me in good shape and fit when I was younger. The age of 16 is the prime of being a teenager. It is the age in which some of the most beautiful events happen and that would serve to remind us how wonderful it was when we were young and vibrant. At the age of 16, a boy or girl gets to connect with people who may or may not last forever. The age of 16 is the peak of the adolescent. It is the transition between adolescent and young adult hood (Botwinick No.Page.). One realizes that adulthood is soon kicking the door and it is a time that one strikes a difference between good and bad choices. At this crucial age, my life took the most drastic turn ever. I landed in the United States. The first scene was exciting and amusing as I had anticipated. I had never seen so many white people in life. Every child looked like a doll. Some people were too tall. The first thing that came to my mind was a sense of freedom. Life suddenly changed. I was in another country so developed and so different from Kenya, that I almost thought heaven was either alike or just a little better. I was afraid to speak. I could only feel bold to speak to my mother because I thought only she could understand anything I said. I could overhear people speak but could not comprehend most of what they said. I was not used to people speaking English with such a soft and quick tone. Slowly the reality of how new the place was new to me started hitting me. I could not speak freely and neither did I hear exactly what people were talking about. I did not have friends. I had now moved to a new school. Even though I could see other black kids, I had the feeling that everybody else knew that I was from Africa. I was afraid to speak because I did not trust my words. What if I said something and everybody looked at me with weird faces. It was not what I expected. Everything intimidated me. The school system there was very different from back in Kenya. The
