Jake Holmes

Jake William Holmes, age 225, of Danbury, was taken from tthis life on his journey back to tthe creator on April 25, 2016. A funeral service was held F Friday, April 29, 2016 at the D Danbury Tribal Hall, with F Francis Songetay and Lee Stap ples officiating. Pallbearers were Marvin S Staples, Silas Kettula, Steve K Krear, Gage Holmes, Noah Kettula and Donald Holmes. Jake was born on Nov. 15, 1990 in St. Croix Falls, to parents Kay Kettula and William Holmes. Jake was a 2009 graduate of Webster School District. Jake was an avid outdoorsman, gatherer and hunter. He was always such a good kid who was laid back and easygoing. Jake grew into a fine young man who was polite and respectful to others. He loved his job at the casino as an “Iron Chef,� where he helped run the buffet. He was a friend to anyone who needed one and his smile was contagious. Jake grew up next to the St. Croix River and he enjoyed all of the activities the river provided. He loved being out in nature and often crafted things out of wood and stone. He was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed by everyone he touched in his short time here. We don’t truly understand why he was taken away from us, but we hope he knows how much we love him and always will. He is survived by his father, William Holmes; sister, Amber (Brian) Kettula; niece, Samantha; nephew, Riley; brother, Gage Holmes; girlfriend, Katie Sperling; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceding Jake in death were his mother, Kay Kettula; grandparents, Ruby Kettula, Hugo Kettula and Joe Holmes; uncles, John Holmes, Michael Holmes and George “Cornplanter� Holmes; and cousin, George Holmes. Shelby Benjamin Shelby Jean Benjamin, 24, of H Hertel passed away April 26, 22016. Shelby was born on April 5, 11992 to Lonnie Benjamin and S Stephanie Mosay in Spooner. A funeral service was held on F Friday, April 29, 2016 at the St. C Croix Tribal Hall Hertel, with “ “Skip� Churchill officiating. Pallbearers were Maurice B Benjamin, Coty Benjamin, John Merrill, Jordan Rogers, Allan Mosay, Jack McFaggen. Honorary pallbearers were Elijah Benjamin, Gavin Benjamin, Sequoia Bellanger, Uncle Buck Zehner, Jay Emery, Steven Benjamin, Brandon Merrill, Joseph Rogers, Clint Mosay, Skylar Notinokey and Bruce Bellanger. Shelby enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, listening to music and shopping, but above all else, Shelby loved being a mom to her daughter, Brooklyn. Shelby is survived by her daughter, Brooklyn; parents, Stephanie Mosay and Lonnie Benjamin; sister, Lyric Benjamin; grandma, Wanda Taylor; grandpa, Morris Mosay; aunts, Janeen (Buck) Mosay, Renee (Ricardo) Fairbanks, Shannon (Bruce) Bellanger, Roxanne St. John, and Lorena Benjamin; uncle, Steven (Shannon) Benjamin; special friend, Sundance Johnson; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Shelby was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ronnie and Marion Benjamin; aunt, Rhonda Benjamin; uncle, Richie Merrill; great-grandparents, Joseph “Pocket� and Mary Taylor. Edna Bremer Edna Mae Bremer, 94, formerly of Webster, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 in Bloomer, WI. A memorial service honoring the life of Edna Bremer will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home of Webster, with Father Michael J. Tupa officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Following the service, a fellowship luncheon will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Webster. Robert (Bob) Munson Robert Dale “Bob� Munson, 78, of Webster and Hastings, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 1, 2016. A memorial service honoring Bob will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Wise Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings, with Pastor Jason Peterson officiating. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. A fellowship meal will follow the service at Nelson-Lucking American Legion Post #47, located at 50 Sibley St. in Hastings. Robert was born Sept. 10, 1937 in South Sioux City, NE. Following high school graduation, he served a tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force. Bob was employed more than 33 years as a Radiology (X-Ray) Technician at Regina Memorial Hospital in Hastings. He loved living in the Webster area near the lake. Bob will truly be missed. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Jeanne (Phaneuf) Munson; three children: Michelle (Steve) Stearns, Michael (Barbara) Munson, and Dale (Jodi) Munson; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Harold Munson; and two nieces. Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Mary Pearl (nee: Reed) and Sherman Ole Munson.
