Prison sentence result of porn-sting operation BY TODD BECKMANN SENTINEL

SIREN—A 31-year-old Burnett County man was sentenced last week in Burnett County Circuit Court to 10 years in prison for possession of child pornography. William O. Cauley, who has a Spooner address but lives in the Town of Rusk, will serve four years, six months behind bars, and five years, six months on extended supervision.

Cauley, originally charged with 10 counts, pleaded to four of the charges and was sentenced to 10 years for each count, to be served concurrently (at the same time). The maximum sentence for the Class D felonies is up to a $100,000 fine, up to 25 years in prison, or both, per charge. No insurance, no gas

Grantsburg man sentenced as part of meth ring

GRANTSBURG—There are plastic baggies over the gas dispensers at Grantsburg’s Country Store — it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what that means. “You have to have pollution insurance on your tanks in order to sell gas,” Country Store owner Darla Harper remarked. “On January 1, the state changed its criteria — and guess what? Our tanks didn’t meet the new criteria.” With their tanks being over 35 years old, the Harper’s could not secure tank insurance. “That’s when they red-tagged our tanks,” Harper lamented. “It’s a real Catch-22 situation — no insurance, no gas.” In the two weeks the store has not been able to sell gas, the Harper’s have seen a 65 percent drop in sales.

MADISON—A 30-year-old Grantsburg man has been sentenced to 24 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for his role in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Matthew Stone had previously pleaded guilty to being involved in a conspiracy with Jerry Vang to distribute methamphetamine in northwest Wisconsin in early 2015. In 2012, an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and comprised of federal, state, and local investigators began investigating the importation and distribution of methamphetamine in Polk and Burnett counties. On March 30, 2015, Vang’s vehicle was stopped by law enforcement. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a baggie containing approxi-
