Join our modern fitness facility from as little as 96p per day and enjoy the benefits of fitness programmes tailored to your needs with friendly instructors and air conditioned surroundings for health, fitness and vitality.

Learner/Small Pool Our small pool is approx. 0.9m in depth and is ideal for young swimmers. This pool facilitates our swimming programme including Aquababies/Waterbabies, Aqua Fun and confidence class, Aqua Float and Aqua Glide class, teen swimmers, adult beginner classes and aqua fit courses.

Our membership of £29.95 offers all-inclusive classes to help take your fitness to the next level with unique training methods. All instructors plan each class to the latest fitness trends and tailor those styles to the classes they coach. Monthly membership includes use of the sauna and steam room where you can unwind and relax after your training session or have a bit of ‘me time’ on your day off.

Main/Big pool This pool is a 25m x 12.5 rectangular pool which ranges from 0.9m to 3.5 meters in depth. Ideal for length or lane swimmers, it also facilities our Swim programme, Masters swimmers, Ladies only club, 50+ club, Sub aqua club, Swim club, Rookie Lifesaving course, Special Olympics club, school swimming, RLSS courses and Team Recovery sessions.

Please be advised, with so many water based activities the availability of the pools will vary to accommodate such bookings. To help you select the best times to swim, we recommend you contact reception on 028 8772 0370, or alternatively lift a schedule of the pool opening times from our front desk.

Swimming

DLC School of Aquatics

Our School of Aquatics have an extensive range of water based courses and classes which include: Aqua Fun Age 4 ½ + Small Pool 30 minute lesson Children will learn how to blow bubbles, gain the confidence to move freely around the pool and pick up objects from the floor with the use of games.

Children should be able to float freely before moving to Aqua Float.

Aqua Float Age 5+ Small Pool 45 minute lesson Children learn how to swim in a streamline position without the use of floats.

Before progressing to Aqua Glide, children need to achieve 3-5 meters front crawl full stroke and the same distance in back crawl leg kicks.

Aqua Glide Age 5+ Small Pool 45 minute lesson Introduction to front crawl breathing, full back crawl stroke and basic breast stroke action. To progress to Aqua Stroke swimmers must be able to swim 5-7 meters front and back including proper breathing technique on front crawl.

Aqua Stroke Age 5+ Big Pool 45 minute lesson This class develops front crawl and back crawl stroke in the main pool to achieve up to 10 meters as well as 5 meter breast stroke. On completion of these distances the swimmer will progress to Aqua Swim.

Swimming Aqua Swim Age 5+ Big Pool (Shallow end to 1.5 meters deep) 45 minute lesson Swimmers gain confidence and develop the skills and stroke to swim in deep water, whilst learning the safety aspect of swimming in deeper water. To progress to Aqua Skill swimmers must achieve 12.5 meters in front crawl, back crawl and show good breast stroke technique over distance. Within this class swimmers also develop butterfly leg kicks.

Aqua Skill Age 5+ Big Pool (Shallow end to 1.5 meters deep) 45 minute lesson This class focuses solely on techniques of all four strokes. Swimmers are swimming in the deepest part of the pool at 3.5 meters, they will complete up to 15 meters on front and back crawl from the deep end, full breast stroke over 7 meter distance and butterfly kicks.

Adult Improvers Big Pool 60 minute lesson This class is swimming in deeper water whilst continuing to develop skills and strokes in the main pool.

Stroke Development Big Pool 60 minute lesson This class will build on skills taught in adult improver lessons including front crawl, back crawl and breast stroke. The focus will be on breathing techniques and improving fitness to enable swimmers to complete consecutive lengths.

All classes are 5 week courses and the price is £30 per class with the exception of Aqua Fun which is £25. Contact reception for booking dates for all lessons.

Rookie Lifeguard 8-14 year old strong swimmers who are confident in deep water of 3.5 meters Big Pool 45 minute lesson Children will learn all the basic lifesaving skills and play fun games to achieve objectives and targets. They will also learn first aid skills and CPR. A RLSS qualified trainer assessor will coach this session.

The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

Candidates must be over 16 years old to take this course and must complete a pre course water test to check ability and competence in water based environment. All children under the age of 8 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible person over the age of 16.

P.A.R.P Studio/GP Referral Programme This is a Physical Activity Programme tailored specifically to the patient’s needs.

The aim is to improve health and standard of life. A referral from your GP or health practitioner is essential. If you have any of the following conditions you may be eligible to be referred to this scheme: • Diabetes • High Blood Pressure • Weight Issues • Depression • Stress or anxiety • Heart Disease For their initial 8 weeks, clients who are referred by their GP to the PARP programme will meet with our trained PARPS coordinator in a private group or 1-1 environment.

Defibrillator Training

All these classes are free when you take out our monthly membership of £29.95 *Excludes swimming lessons and masters class * To guarantee a place on any of our classes/courses we advise pre-booking

We can provide certified training for sports clubs, youth groups, community groups and businesses. Any organisation with access to a defibrillator needs trained staff to operate it. At DLC we can provide certified training courses on a regular basis. Please contact reception to book your personal slot on 028 87720370.
