He visited the company's plant at Vancouver, attended an important plywood meeting in Tacoma, and paid a visit to Seattle. On the tvay home he called on friends in the San Francisco Bav district.

F. A. "Pete" Toste, manager of the Southern Pacific Division, Georgia-Pacific Plywood & Lumber Co., Los Angeles, returned June 11 from visiting the company's San Francisco office. He called on Northern California mills with Arvilla Belasco, purchasing agent for the division, and called on the trade in the Bay district rvith Charlie Schmitt.

Resolutir.rns, unanimously adopted, opposed S. 1820 (Forest Practices Act) submitted by Senator Anderson, and any legislation providing for compulsory health insurance.

The resolutions also favored legislation to create a Senate Committee on Small Business as rvell as a petition to Congress that it enact specific and clarifying legislation permitting the quoting of a delivered price and the absorption of freight, u'here deemed avisable by the seller, rvithout sacrificing the prir-rciples and purposes of the AntiTrust larvs.

By resolution the West Coast Bureau of Lumber Grades and h-rspection tvas recluested to change the length provisions <-,f Rule No. 14 so as to conform u'ith previolrs practice rrncler Rule No. 12.

ln Northwest Lumber

Accorcling to repcrt from the Northrvest it is probable that there l'ill be little change in sawmill rvages before next April. It is understood that the International Woodu'orkers of America, CIO, has completed negotiations rvith sar,vmill employers rvith that result. Requested increased pay up to 3O cents an hour, a health and welfare fund, a six-hour day and other benefits rvere not allowed. Negotiations still continue in other fir, pine and plyrvood areas, 'rvith both CIO and AFL.
