Tucked away among the foothills of Calaveras Couuty in California and within an hour's easy drive off U. S. Highw,by 99 at Stockton or.Lodi, is a plywood plant believed to be the southernmost upon the entire Pacific Coast.
The plant is controlled and operated by the Calaveras Forest Products Corp., an associate of Tarter, Webster & Johnson, Inc. All plywood sales are made through the latter firm. A company spokesman for Tarter, Webster & Johnson, Inc., states: .!Expansion of our plywood manufacturing facilities is but one step iu Tarter, Webster & Johnson's program to provide a completely rounded-out line of the highest quality forest products."
Although neithel the plant itself nor the annual produc- tion, estimated at seven million square feet, is large as plywood plants go, this unit is fully equipped to produce standard, interior-type plywood in the popular 4x8 ft. size panel. Principal items of equipment include a Globe Log Barker, Coe 110" Veneer Lathe, Elliott Bay Clipper, Proctor 3-section 4 conveyor Dryer and a Marolf 52"x108" Hydraulic Cold Press. These are supplemented by complete and partially automatic' patching equipment and a battery of four controlled panel-conditioning kilns.

All panels manufactured at this plant are glued with 10cycle bond according to U. S. Government specificaticns for concrete forms, military hutments, etc., although the
