Increased Minimum \(/age Bill

Still Befiore Committee

On June 15 the proposed new minimum wage bill that would raise the lowest possible wage from 40 to 75 cents per hour, failed to get through the House Labor Committee. The vote was tied, ten to ten. Nine Democrats and one Republican voted for the bill, and seven Republicans and three Southern Democrats voted against it. The chairman says he will try again soon to get the bill out oi committee. Voting against the bill were Democrats Lucas of Texas, Sims of South Carolina, and Wood of Georgia.

Olympic Expcrnds Scles Force

The \A/est Coast Stained Shingle Company, manufacturers of Olympic Stained Shingle and Shakes, announces the appointment of three additional salesmen as part of their expanding sales program.

William S. Shertzer will be the California representative for "Olympic." He moved to California June 1. Mr. Shertzer has been working in the home offrce of the company for the past year, having spent three and one-half years with the Army Air Forces. He was formerly salesman for Keuffel & Eiser, engineering supply house in Seattle.
