Mr. Schmitt comes to his nerv position u'ell equipped r'vith ability and experience. lle was graduated from the University of California and started to work for the Chas. R' McCormick Lumber Co. at its St. Helens, Oregon, mill in 1928. After two years in the mill and yard he u'as in the sales department in the San Francisco office until 1936, at which time he joined the staff of United States Plywood Corp., San Francisco, as salesman' He was there until 1940'

During the intervening period to March, 1946, he rvas in the Army, coming out as Lieutenant-Colonel. He returned to work with the United States Plywood Corporation at San Francisco. His principal work with tl-rat concern was calling on lumber dealers, rvith rvhom he has a large acquaintance. He is a native of San Francisco, is married and lives in Berkeley.
