New York-Acrluisition of two additional outlets for lumber and building sttpplies has been announced by The Diamond Match Conrpany. Joseph E. Duffey, vice president in charge of timber and lumber operations, said that the acquisitions raise to 109 the total of retail outlets in Diamond's systems on the \\rest Coast and in New England.

The trvo nslv yords are: The Alcap Lumber Company, one of the oldest and largest building material yards in Fresno, California; and Starnford Mason's Supply, Inc., Stamford, Connecticut.

Mr. Duffey said that the yards rvill carry complete supplies of building materials as rvell as lumber. Botl, will be operated under the Diamond name.

Appointed Purchcrsing Engineer

Hal White, Jr. has been appointed purchasing engineer for the Hyster Company, industrial truck and tractor attachment manufacturer of Portland, Oregon, Peoria and Danville, Illinois, according to a recent announcement from I'aul lthodes, general purchasing agent.

Mr. White served in Flyster's sales promotion and advertising department during the past five years and has also held various engineering positions since joining the company in 1943. His previous background includes two years in the utilization laboratory of the Portland Gas and Coke Company; tvork in theater promotion ; and engineering study at Oregon State College.

"More than 3ll0 nrillion see<llings were produced in the nation's nurserie$ in 1949. At a thousand seedlings per acrc, that's enough trees to reforest a third of a rnillion acrcs," I\fcClellan said. J. C. "Doc" Snead of the C. S. Pierce Lumber Co., Fresno, who sent in the clipping says: "The A. L. Hoover mentioned is norv the famous A.L. 'Gus' lloover, Los Angeles wholesale lumberman."

Wonder what Gus wanted the black cats for? He must have been getting ready for a Hoo-Hoo Concat. Cats were sure going cheap in those days.
