According to the association, therc are 30 million boating entl-rusiasts and the figure is growing every day. Already more than 5l rnrllion pleasure boats are in use. Next year 750,000 outboard mr,itors rvill be purchased and most of them u'ill require a boat.
The association offers its sales helps in two sectiorlq-one a basic merchandising kit and the other a list of optional extras. Here's a rundo'ivn on what's available.
The basic kit contains plans for these nerv, experienceproven boats: a7-foot,9-inch pram dinghy; an 1l-foot,3inch outboard runabout; a 13-foot, 4-inch outboard, a 13foot, 9-inch shallorv water punt for duck hunters and fisher- rnen;a roomy 15-foot outboard runabout, a l5-foot, 1l-inch outboard speedboat, an lS-foot family dav cruiser and a 20-foot cabin cruiser.
Some 60 plans for these boats are contained in the counter display which measures l3x18x4 inches. Also included are ad mats, display ideas, raclio commercials and a dealer sales guide.
This basic package is available from Douglas Fir Pl1'wood Association for only $2.75. Actual cost is $7. The association recommends that dealers sell tl,e plans for 25 cents each, which should produce $15 income so the display more than pays its way.
The association also claims that the plans are the finest things available of their kind. That's becattse they include exploded views, step-by-step photos, fully simplified instructions for laying do'ivn lines and complete, fully tried, step-by-step building instructions.
