The Davies l)oor Co., El N onte, California, was acquired last rnonth by Dick Ostling and Chas. Strait, owners and operators of the f)stling Manufacturing Company, also just east of the I-os Angeles industrial district. For the past seven years Ostling has been engaged in the manufactttre of cloors and sliding door frames for the ever-expanding Southlantl building marl<et.

Under the guiding hand of Dicl< Ostling ancl the sales direction of Chas. Strait, thc Ostling Manufacturing Company iras shown a steady growth antl continltous expansion since 1949. This progressve firm will now be :rble to produce over 2000 doors per shift ancl present plans call for additional expansion just as soon as the demand warrauts.

"The new plant, forl.nerly operated by Mr. Davies, It'ill bc known as Thc Strait l)oor Nlanufacturing Co. and rvill be operated as a separate unit," said Presitlent C. ll' Strait. The present personnel will be maintained ttncler the supervision of Roy Lanning, office manager, and Rucly' Delgado, plant superintendent, he continued. "We will also continue to procluce hardr,vood doors, as the Davies organization \\'as one of the largest manufacturers of this type of cloor in Southern California," declared Strait.

Last December it rvas offrcially found by the Treasury Department that Japanese plyu'ood is being sold at fair value and that the charges of "dumping" were groundless.

Stimulated by its success in this primary purpose. the Imported Hardrvood Plyu'ood Association is now rvorking out a program to further promote the demand for Japanese Plywood along the lines of other plyr'vood associations in America.
