A $350,000 fire almost totally destroyed the Slattery Hardwood Company yard at 11615 Parmelee, Los Angeles, during the night of March l, raging 90 minutes through the block-long, three-acre yard before seven county and four city fire-fighting units controlled it. Firemen said the blaze apparently started in the yard's southeast corner near a planing mill leased to Western Mill & Moulding Co., operated by M. O. Parrick (CLM, 2/L5/56).
