Los Angelcs Hoo-Hoo Club Golf Tournament and Dinner March 24

The spring golf tournarnent of the l,os Angeles FIoo-Hoo Club will be held at the Riviera Country Club, Santa Monica, Friday afternoon, March 24.

l'rizes will include the Roy Stanton, George E. Ream and The California Lumber Merchant trophies, and awards will also be presented to the 'ivinners of the special cvents. The golfers will tee off at 11:59 a.m.

Dinner will be served in the Clubhouse at 7:09 1>.m., and President Tom Fox will preside at the business session. Door prizes rvill go to the holders of the lucky numbers.

The Glee Gates Trio, three charming vottrrg ladies, will entertair-r from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with music and songs. These young ladies have appeared before at Club meetings and rvere well received.

Ed Bauer, Harvey Koll, Orrin Wright and John Lipani are handling the arrangements of the golf tournament. A big turnout is expected and the Committee recluests that you get your reservations in early.

The third training school for Johns-Manville building and industrial produ'ct salesmen is being held at the company's training headquarters in its ner,v Research Center at Manville, N. J. Senior executives of the company are scheduled to address the trainees on such phases of the company's activities as research, finance, production and sales promotion.

Exports Fall Off During January

January exports totaled 35,968,926 lroar<l feet, as cornpare(l rvith 39,5O5,782 the previous month. -|arruary dcrmestic shipments totaled 164,196,599 as against 218,552,172 in ])ecember.

Thc totals include shipmer.rts from ports in British Columbia, Pugct Sound, Grays-Willapa Harbor, Colurnbia l{iver and tl.re Oregon Coast. The report is compiled by the Bureau in cooperation rvith the \Vest Coast Lumberrnen's Association.

British Columbia shipped 53,831,49(r feet to U. S. ports during January.

British Columbia exports for January totaled 25,080,272. Washington-Oregon exports for the month totaled 10,888,654.

Washington-Oregon domestic shipments during January totaled 110,365,103, u'ith 64,865,269 sent from Oregon and the balance from Washington.

Brickmcson Apprentice Competition

The second annual Brickmason Apprentice National Competition, sponsored by the Bricklayers, Masons and Irlasterers' International Union, rvill be held this year in I'hiladelphia, Pa., it lr'as announced by Harry C. Bates, president of the lJnion. About 7,000 young bricklayer apprentices, most of them veterans, are eligible for the cash prizes to be arvarded. The national finals competition will be held during the A F of L's Union Label Trades Exposition at Convention Hall in Philadelphia, l\{ay 6 to 13. Entries close on April 5. 1950.
