Something ncw haa becn added to thc lumbcr industrY of Southern California-in thc Person of Ruth Lotz Minor. Shc has recently joined the ranks of lumber salesladies in the Southern California territory, and is calling on the trade selling redwood, Douglas fir and pine.

Ruth was born in Omaha, Nebraska, greu, up in Ohio, graduating from Ohio State University, and then moved to Los Angeles in 1938. A public accountant for the Past five Years' she became interested in lumber several lumbermen clients, and finally decided she ld rather sell lumber than do accounting. She has aldiscovered, as have many folks before her, that the ihdustry is full of friendly, helpful people.

Builders Emporium of Van Nuys celebrated Christmas in :,i big way and gave over a hundred gifts to customers who visited the store between December 15 and December 22' The gifts were given away daily, and the lucky customers 1'can claim their gifts any time up to and including January S. tqSt. A bulletin board in the oflice listed the customers who had been selected. Paul Reiner, general manager' stated: "This contest is our way of saying Merry Christmas, and we want everyone to come in to see our beautiful new store with the thousands of hard-to-find items we have 'rassembled for their shopping convenience." The company "recently completed a new retail section with 10,000 square - feet of floor space.

Syra Marty, Swedish movie star, was invited to pass out the gifts on Thursday evening, December 21. The major awards were made on December 22 and civic leaders and movie personalities attended the ceremonies.
