The Lazy Pitchet
Although the baseball season ended sevcral wceks back, the following mighty finc llascllall story gocs thc rottncls' This llitcher was notoriottsly lazy, btrt he had a very keen hcad on his shorrlclers, and sometimcs that quick wit helped orrt his laz.y l>o<Iy.
Hc was in a tight spot in a tough game' and when a very dangerotts batter came to the plate the manager gave the pitcher the signal to give him his base on balls; pass hirn.
Wasting no time the laz'y pitcher threw one into the ribs of the clangerous batter so fast he never had a chance to doclge or dttck it, and, rtrbbing his side he limped down to first base. After the inning was over the rnanager shoved the lazy pitcher into a corner of the dugout, and snapped:
"What was the idea of nailing that guy when I only told you to walk him?"
"You wanted me to send him to first, didn't you?" asked ths lazy pitcher.
"r did !"
"Then, what's the difference?" drawlcd the pitcher' "Why shotrlcl I tire r.r.ry arm with four pitchcs, whcn I got him thcrc with one?"
