HE LUMBER MERCHANTS Association's fine educational r program, Mr. Gotrocks, is taking on even greater importance these days. It's been accepted as a major promotional endeavor of the National Lumber and Buildine Matt'rial Dealers Association and will soon be seen in more than 20* states.

Naturally, we are delighted that this program has developed such importance. It's the most concrete example we can show of the good that can be realized when manufacturers and dealers join together for a common goal.

In the more than thirty presentations I have conducted of Mr. Gotrocks, management and employees alike have been quick to comment on the important message presented. Each has fully realized that change must be made and improvements instituted.

LMA's educationa-l committee is quick to point out that thinking this way is great-but action is more im,portant. Committeemen believe, and rightly so, that Mr. Gotrocks is the vehicle for closing the communications gap between owner-managers and their employees.

Thc Gotrocks program includes a suggested meeting betwc.err the -qtore manager and each employee. This meeting should be a two-way street, not just a "talking to" session. We strongly urge every manager to sound out each employee not only about his own specific job with the firm, but also about the companv in general.

And this is a very easy thing to do. Few people are hesitant to give their opinions especially when they are asked point blank. And in the case of the dealer employee, it's amazing how much they see and know that they can contribute to the conversation as well as the actual store improvement.
