Weyerhaeuser open house for door and millwork facility
PEN HOUSE ar the Weyerhaeuser door and millwork dis- tribution center in Cerritos, Ca., commemorated its fifth anniversary and allowed customers to view the latest in door and millwork products.
The Cerritos and San Jose. Ca.. operations are designated by Weyerhaeuser as Consumer Service Centers concentrating on sales of doors and millwork. The remainins l3 Weyerhaeuser distribution cenr;rs in the western region handle a wide variety of building materials.

Guests were welcomed with Flawaiian leis and entertained by llawaiian dancers during the afternoon. A buffet supper was served.
In keeping with the Hawaiian theme, Art Olsen, division manager, awarded a trip to Hawaii as a door prize. Long Beach Building Materials was the lucky winner with Linda Califano and John Roake accepting the prize on behalf of the company.
Seattle, Wa., Salt Lake City, Ut., Sacramento, San Jose, F'resno and Los Angeles, Ca., Phoenix, Az., and Denver, Co., distribution centers also have been designated by Weyerhaeuser to become door and mill-

work specialists. This sales specialization provides good coverage, according to Lynne Rump, sales rep from Charlton Industries, who was demonstrating Octagons, a leaded glass window, at the open house. She told guests that Weyerhaeuser is now the exclusive Southern California distributor for her product.
Stanley Door Systems, which was represented by Ray Rossincone, was giving open house guests coffee cups decorated with both weyerhaeuser and Stanley Doors logos in recognition of their partnership in serving customers through the door and millwork center.
Olsen summed up the general feeling of vendors and Weyerhaeuser representatives when he characterized the open house as "very successful." Guests. who were enjoying the hospitality at the May 20th event as well as the opportunity to view product lines, seemed to be in agreement.

Cross Country Sales Seminars
A series of sales seminars will be offered in key cities next winter under the auspices of the North American Wholesale Lumber Association and the National Building Material Distributors Association.
William W. Sharp, seminar leader in sales techniques for both inside and outside salespersons, will conduct the two day meetings. Discussion will cover effective opening statements, targeted probing, selling quality and closing skills.
Cities under consideration as seminar locations include Nashville, Tn., Los Angeles, Ca., Seattle, Wa., and Charlotte, N.C.
New Hardwood Buyers Guide
A Buyer's Guide/Membership Directory will replace the membership directory which has been published by the National Hardwood Lumber Association for many years.
Discontinuing the NHLA Yearbook, the association will include advertising in the new 400-p. directory which will be available free to buyers of hardwood products.
